The Crimson Tide claimed game one but fell short in game two

4/5/2025

AUBURN, AL –
No. 8 Alabama baseball split a doubleheader with No. 16 Auburn on Saturday at Plainsman Park. The Crimson Tide took the first game of the day, 6-5, behind a two-run homer off the bat of Justin Lebron in the ninth inning, but dropped the series finale, 7-5, after falling into an early four-run deficit. With Saturday's results, the Tide sits at 27-6 overall and 7-5 in Southeastern Conference play.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"Long day of baseball today. I will never fault the toughness and fight of this group. They show up with that every day. A lot of maturity shown in the early game today, down one going into the ninth and fighting our way to a big win. The second game got off to a rough start, but we stayed in the fight and gave ourselves a chance late. We just didn't have enough to finish. Overall, we just have to get out of the gate better on both sides of the ball. We will rest up and recover and get ready for a good Southern Miss team coming to town on Tuesday."

GAME ONE

Trailing by one run entering the ninth inning, a two-run homer off the bat of Justin Lebron and a perfect ninth from Carson Ozmerpropelled Alabama to a 6-5 victory in Saturday's opening game.

In a back-and-forth affair that saw three ties and three lead changes, the Crimson Tide offense struck for six runs on eight hits, led by Lebron's 3-for-5 outing with a home run and three RBI. Richie Bonomolo Jr. was the only other Alabama player to record multiple hits in the first game, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring two runs, including the game-tying run in the ninth. Will Hodo drove in a run as part of his 1-for-5 showing, while Bryce Fowler also recorded an RBI as part of his 1-for-4 effort, adding an outfield assist to end the Auburn threat in the sixth.

Riley Quick made his return to the bump, allowing just two runs and three hits in his 4.0 innings of work. Austin Morris (2-0) earned his second win of the spring, retiring the two men he faced in the eighth, while Ozmer notched his ninth save of the campaign thanks to a perfect final frame.
