Not buying FSU Hype

I was reading some material on college football, and by and far, most writers are singing the praises of FSU. Everything stated in every article was the same thing...FSU returns 9 starters on D...J Fisher is the man...the recruiting will start to pay off...blah blah blah.

I am not buying it, but the nation had better get ready for it. Look at their schedule.

Murray State
Savannah St
Wake
Clemson
USF
NC State
Boston College
Miami
Duke
Va Tech (with a week off prior to this game)
MD
Fla

FSU will play three teams that are top 25 caliber...and should be 9-0 before their match up with Va Tech. At worst, they should finish the regular season with no more than two loses. The sad part is that this type of schedule will become more of the norm with a play off...not just for FSU, but for all the D-1 teams.

I've just gotten used to ignoring the media talk of FSU preseason the last couple of years. For some reason, they always believe that this year is they return to the top. I'll just say that I'll believe when I see it...

Hey, they could do it with that schedule.:( and then they'll be singing the praises of how they are back and so on...blah blah blah,..
Until they get creamed in a bowl game by a team with a legit record of 10-2 or so. Then we'll hear that NEXT year will be the year they're DEFINITELY back. Pinky swear.

The schedule looks awesome for them, however we must remember we are talking ACC. Never bet on an ACC game! I figure they will get upset at least twice.

I wouldn't put it past FSU to get upset by USF. Then you have to figure they'll be victim to one of those ACC upset head-scratchers like Wake Forest or Boston College.

I'm guessing they'll go 9-3 or 10-2 though if they get a head of steam, who knows, they could be rolling into the Florida game undefeated.

I think many of the media people feel the same way about Fla St as they do about Miami, USC & Notre Dame. In that it is "good" for college football for these teams to be good, andon some level I do agree. It is more attention grabbing to have an undefeated of any of these teams than a TCU or Boise St. So they build them up preseason in hopes they will live up to the billing.

What that schedule the question becomes if the Seminoles don't do anything major this year (min. BCS bowl, but more likely a BCSCG consideration) does Jimbo Fisher seat start to get warmer?

I really wish we could get them into the SEC and shut them up. I can't believe that the reason we don't want them is because Florida is afraid of having them in the conference because it might hurt their recruiting. And the other talking heads saying that they can't come in because of being a 2nd team from an SEC state?????? We have 2 in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi already, and it doesn't affect recruiting. We end up with aTm and Missouri??? The natural regional teams to round us out to 16 from 12 would have been FSU, Ga Tech, Clemson, and Louisville. What are the idiots in our SEC office thinking.

I know that conference expansion is always about money(=TV), but I would have like to see a more geographical expansion as well.

P.S., all the Crime-Nole$ down here in the panhandle have been getting on my nerves for the past couple of years. Thinking that a first time head coach is better than a proven winner is ridiculous.

Jimbo Fisher has proven that he can recruit, but he has yet to prove he can develop players, let alone be a good head coach. Until FSU gets a real QB (not an athlete playing at QB) and a running game, they're not winning anything.

I really believe Jimbo will win at FSU. Not so confident with Muschamp. I believe the problems being talked about at Florida are not as big as they make it out to be. I think Dan Mullen is a better than Will and as good or better than Jimbo. You can't speak like a lug and make it in the league anymore.

I think even with the extremely easy schedule, FSU will continue to lose a game or two that they have no business losing.
The Bellecheck tree, Saban branched Jimbo Fisher is the real deal imo. They are recruiting like crazy, just look at what they got out of Alabama this year for evidence, and he was the first coach that CNS called when he landed at Bama, which says a lot to me. I predict a fast rise for FSU. Getting FSU back to prominence will be an easier job than coach Saban had at Alabama due to FSU being relevant up until the early 2000's, and the seamless recruiting transition. Everything is set for rapid success. Only bad coaching could stop it.
