Notre Dame athletes volunteer for Tuscaloosa torndao relief

I know that there is a tornado thread, but I thought this one should be brought to light since there is so much dislike for Notre Dame:

"When fall break arrives, most college students go home to see their families, or take a few days to go to the beach.

But for 24 student-athletes at the University of Notre Dame, fall break was a chance to come to Tuscaloosa to help with tornado relief and cleanup as part of their Fight for Tide service trip. Four administrators from Notre Dame also made the trip."

That's awesome. I still hate noter dame and hope a sinkhole opens this weekend in south bend and swallows the stadium with them and USC in it.

Agreed. Its awful that it usually takes tragedy to bring people together but its good to see people do what needs to be done.


Also since there were no football players mentioned on the trip is it ok to still hate the football team???:smile:

This goes beyond football or any sport and I commend them for their actions.

When it comes to ND, you either love 'em or hate 'em, and we all know where we are on that subject. However, it's a classy move and jesture on their part and I, too, applaud them for it. On second thought, I don't really hate ND, I hate the preferential treatment they receive from the media, and the ncaa, and... well, nevermind.

Just came back to college in the spring and found out about this as well. They basically give you a Thursday and Friday off in October, so that you have a 4 day weekend.

I have always hated the OVER HYPING of ND. However, I do respect ND. Saying that, I do pull for any team that plays them.

No matter how we feel about a competitor on the field, this is classy, and we as a community should be all over this in showing gratitude. I am so grateful for all support and especially this from ND! Thank you for unexpected blessings!
