Notre Dame, from 2026, will be guaranteed a CFP spot with a top 12 ranking.

Is this definitely true? Their schedule next year is soo easy. It's pitiful.

They play Miami and USC. And ten scrimmages.

I can't imagine the SEC and Big10 agreeing to this and knowing one of their teams could get bumped.

This is utterly insane. They have an absolute cupcake schedule. They are lucky to play more than 3 teams with a pulse each year.

I strain myself in an herculean effort to calmly analyze all sides of the issue you raise. Even so, I have to say that this stinks. What idiot came up with this idea to benefit ND in this fashion?

Crazy... If the CFB signed that without asking the Big12 and the SEC they should just demand Notre Dame be excluded or blow up the whole deal and make the playoff be between them. Notre Dame playing the little sisters of the poor next year makes it even more intolerable.

This along with the other whining they've done over the CFP is reason enough to not want them in the SEC. They whine more than a roomful of toddlers that didn't get their snacks before naptime. I would be embarrassed if I were an alumni.

This is a picture from the CFB Playoff group that signed the MOU.

Seriously though - I think it is the 10 commissioners that would have had to approve the Memorandum Of Understanding to allow this to happen. Sounds like the AD’s of their member schools were not consulted on that decision.

If they decide to stay independent...then treat them like a G5 team...you can only get the 11th or 12th spot and compete against the other G5's for those..if the system stays the same. I do like the other ADs starting to talk about NOT scheduling them..its not a win for them to do so...all this is self-inflicted by their AD...and I hope it has the maximum detrimental effect..i will ROFL if it does
