One thing I've been paying particular attention to this spring, summer, and fall has been the reports on our team strength and conditioning. From the reports I have read, our guys are looking to have far better conditioning than in past years. While sheer strength will always be a factor in how effective a player can be, it looks like speed and stamina are a little bit more of a focus for our team.
Judging from the photos I've seen of our players practicing, one observation I have is that our team in general seems to be lean and slender (including our lineman, where I don't see a lot of "gut" hanging out as compared to some other teams). This seems to be by design of CMS, and I look forward to seeing how this shows on the playing field during games. On the lines, my hope is that the speed, skill, and conditioning of our players wins out over the sheer bulk and girth that other teams will bring to the table (as an example, the huge UT lines, or the O-line that Arkansas had last year where they had a couple players well into the upper 300's).
