1) Calling for DeBoer’s firing doesn’t magically fix the problem. It further complicates it.

2) Ty… he is okay but like I’ve said numerous times the last 3 years… he isn’t the messiah that his fans believe him to be. Better than Milroe??? Yes and no. He has his own set of problems with his own strengths.

3) Never believe anything positive about an offensive down or a defense in the preseason

What little passion I had for college football was pretty much extinguished today.

I tried, but I just am not feeling it. I've been posting quite a lot about this over the last couple of years - the way the game has changed (x-fer portal, pay for play, etc) has basically ruined the sport for me. I had hoped watching the game today would get me fired up, but in reality, I'm not even upset Bama lost. I feel no connection to this team, and they feel completely disconnected from the school I attended.

C'est la vie...
I'm mostly this, but am upset we lost the way we did. Got sucked in with preseason, but knew we still had to see what kind of coach we have. I'm not going to be able to stomach watching soft play.

Hey Kalen, in case you didn't know or realize, this is the SEC we play big boy football down here.

I think he did “ok.” Was his first start and he was frequently running for his life with receivers dropping balls that hit their hands. He had a few bad passing (usually while scrambling) and his worst decision was not keeping it on that one long 3rd down.

He can definitely improve and I think he will, unless his confidence collapses.
Major issue I saw today is how long it takes for him to throw a 40 yard pass. His arm is average at best, so he has a longer windup. Neither Bryce nor Jalen had that - though Jalen was slow getting the ball out due to other reasons. He also is a half-second slow in getting the ball out on any route. Those two things will severely limit Grubb’s play-calling if he doesn’t improve quickly.

I feel this. Frankly, I’m not even mad. My wife can’t believe it.
Same.

Last season, after the loss to Vandy, I was upset because I was stunned.

Then, after the loss to Oklahoma, I was still slightly mad, because i was still surprised.

This game doesn’t bother me much at all. Because the outcome doesn’t surprise me even a little.

Yeah there were bad drops.

I thought he played well considering everything going on.

No QB will fix what happened today.

Ty could have played almost perfect and we still lose.

Defense got just embarrassed.

So many poor tackling efforts if you even want to call it effort.

Bad angles everywhere and lazy ‘pursuit’.

What makes me the most angry is for the handful of guys that you could see giving effort.

They tried.

Most on Offense and excluding the OL who were turnstiles.

RB’s ran hard and Germie was playing his butt off.

Then you see our defenders hand swiping and flayling around and being dragged down the field.

Ticks me off.

No emotion from the Staff either.

KD won’t get into a player unless it’s a 3rd string player in garbage time. Saw it last year.

He’s weak as a leader and team mirrors the HC.

I agree we were (he was) slow getting the ball out all day.

I’m frustrated. So are all of us. I don’t know enough about the X’s and O’s to talk intelligently, but I know it’s a different landscape and players are motivated differently than they used to be (and that I would like for them to be). I know we have some scheme deficiencies that may or may not be fixable in season. But I also know that I’m not Greg Byrne. It’s his job to figure out what to do with de Boer, and it’s De Boer’s job to figure out what to do with his team and coaches. Those guys either fix it or they don’t. It is what it is.

I will bleed crimson until I no longer bleed, and I’ll still be there next Saturday tailgating with the BQS crew in our spot where we’ve been for over 20 years, mixing up yellowhammers and cheering on our guys. And then I’ll be back the next Saturday. And every game after that until I’m too old or my wife tells me we’re done.

Ty threw 50 passes (29 for 50) in 2022 through 2024 in actual games. He just doesn't have the reps.

Number Zero, whoever that is, certainly lived up to his chosen number. Was frequently slow and behind the play or getting beat. I preferred it when Saban banned that jersey number.
In all fairness, this was Lawson’s first game back after ACL surgery. Athletes don’t ever come back at full speed from that injury in 9 months - it’s more like a year and a half if ever. Bigger issue is that depth issues mean you can’t bring a guy like that back slower.

Here is my thing. IMO NIL and the unlimited transfer portal have pretty much ruined college football. But ok, it happened. Every team is dealing with this. But other teams are figuring out how to “motivate” their teams and play winning football. On the exact same playing field, we are not. If the problem is the structural change to CFB, well then we are losing the arms race. So I guess what I’m saying is, I’m not buying the theory that it’s the NIL and transfer changes that are causing us to lose games in an incompetent manner.

I thought Lawson was #30?

It's hard to say what all went wrong. There's too much talent for this to happen. And that's on the coaches. I just hope we see a different team the rest of the season.

Amen to that. We supposedly have one of the most talented rosters in CFB. Top 5 in recruiting.
It aint NIL why we are struggling.

Loss stings. Not the end of the world though.

Learn from it, get better and play with a chip on your shoulder. Reality is the parity across football is changing the game. That was a good FSU team and not the 2-10 team form last year. Guss bus was rolling.

Bama seemed to be off all day - lack of intensity, maybe a little bit of underestimate of the opponent. Doak with fans screaming for 60 mins is a tough place to play. Coaches need to improve weekly just as the team does. Womack may not be the guy. CKD is here for at least a few years - even with 4 loss seasons, so hopefully he figures it out sooner than later.

A few key plays that change the game and the outcome could be different but yeah didn't go Bama's way today.
