Good grief, this isn't splitting the atom. FSU will not go undefeated - and Gus's offenses, while quirky and tough to defend, are not indefensible.

Bama out-talents FSU by a wide margin by all subjective measures, so to get man-handled means Bama was outcoached.

That's unacceptable.

Making excuses for this staff and team after last year (actually after the last few years) is whistling past the graveyard.

You can try to sound as objective as you wish, but the results suggest something different...
No kidding; it's not like FSU went on some Magical Mystery Tour in the 70's and installed the wishbone.
We have seen this movie before.Get prepared.

I’ll be on board with all this if what I saw today continues all year. First game in these circumstances… predictable outcome.
This is literally a continuation from last year, and is honestly not even new under DeBoer...

It seems you're wistfully hopeful things will magically fix themselves when they were already askew under Saban and have fallen further under DeBoer.

In time, you may well be correct that mine is an overreaction...

But sadly, based on current evidence I'd be willing to bet a large sum that I'm not wrong.

What little passion I had for college football was pretty much extinguished today.

I tried, but I just am not feeling it. I've been posting quite a lot about this over the last couple of years - the way the game has changed (x-fer portal, pay for play, etc) has basically ruined the sport for me. I had hoped watching the game today would get me fired up, but in reality, I'm not even upset Bama lost. I feel no connection to this team, and they feel completely disconnected from the school I attended.

C'est la vie...
Unfortunately I agree with everything you said…. I tried to convince myself that even though NIL and the portal drastically reduced my overall interest in the sport, I could put all that aside on Saturdays and still enjoy the games as I always have….but that’s just not the case…. I don’t pull for most of these guys like I used to pull for the previous generation of players…. It’s hard to get behind these players when they can be gone at the drop of a hat…and while I do like to see us sign guys out of the portal, it’s still tough to fully embrace a kid that’s wearing his 3rd or 4th college jersey….

Whew.

I don't think it's time to start talking about firing CKD. JMO.

I do think it's time to figure out why we seem to be a step slower than the other team on the defensive side.

Ty was NOT the real issue. He threw for over 250 yards with no INTs. You give me that before the game and I say we won by a couple of scores. Timing was bad on some of the passing plays and I'm not sure what was wrong with RW.

But the OL is another story, but we could have still won with that effort...

But the main problem I saw was we couldn't stop Gus' Mickey Mouse offense. We should have never given up that many points to a one-dimensional team.

I wish we saw him lose it on the sideline like Saban...show the passion...he just doesn't show it...he looks stumped by whats happening...not mad at whats happening
the biggest moment was when we stopped them and got s personal foul and he just stood there. Any other coach would have yanked the player off the field and got in his face.

Just read this CKD quote on Bama 24/7 -

"I choose to believe we got a good football team. But, you know, we can't play on our heels, like we're not going to be what we think we can be, what we want to be, if that's the case. And that falls on everyone. I don't just put the point the finger at the players.”

What the hell is this gobblity goop suppose to mean?! CKD drove me crazy with coach speak nonsense in 2024.

Guess what? I and many other Bama fans CHOOSE to believe you’re in over your head. You got the rest of 2025 to prove us wrong.
Sounds like a "word salad"

Here's the issue with that though. This isn't a cheap roster. Alabama isn't the richest program, but they do have more money than FSU for example.

So if these players are not adequate, whose fault is that? FSU overhauled their roster via the portal and then beat Alabama's butt with those players. If this Alabama staff doesn't have the players they need, but also lack the knowledge and ability to fix that, then it's just another shortcoming on their part.

Honestly I think a lot of that is just west coast football. He's more of a finesse coach, his offenses rely heavily on the QB, his teams are not big tough strong and mean. It's just not what we've seen from him nor what we'd come to expect. I mean who looked at his playoff Washington team and thought wow those guys are scary? They were skilled, but not scary.
I think Bama’s had major problems with player evaluation for a while now. Lots of recruiting misses especially on DL and OL, which now means we’re wasting money on subpar players.

Looked like a Shula team out there today.
My son ( an Auburn grad) said “looks like DeBoer is Dubose 2.0”. I said that at least Dobose had to pretend he wasn’t “paying” player. DeBoer actually gets to openly pay players and it appears to choose to spend those dollars less wisely.

Is he a slightly more successful Harsin? Time will tell..

Why? Arch manning showed what happens when high expectations meet real competition...switching QBs isn't the magic elixir people think
no the 3rd string QB would have made everything better. not the defense actually tackling, not better play calling, nope switching to the 3rd string QB in a hostile environment down 2 scores would have fixed everything.
