Today he said they weren't surprised by anything Gus did and that they had prepared for it during the week

Not sure if I believe him in the first place, and I'm not sure if it makes him look as good as he thought it did to say it
He also said (along with that) that they were slow to react.

Couple that with CKD saying they played on the heels and it sounds like our guys were tentative.

I noticed several times how it "seemed" the FSU player was a step faster. I don't believe that for a minute, but if we are late getting out of our stance on a play it's going to look that way.

I mean, the misdirection is designed to do just that. Get a player to start one way and they go the other he's a few steps behind.

He’s just terrible at LT or RT for obvious reasons, and will never play that position in the NFL. He will need to play one of the guard positions and drop some weight.
Procter has never been as good as they say he is. Chris Capps vibes for sure. Should have left his butt in Iowa. He's slow, weak and has absolutely no coordination. He regularly gets beat by guys half his size, not just beat but absolutely rag dolled.

The throws to Bernard were long developing plays with Williams clearing the zone and Bernard coming underneath. Ty made some great throws to Bernard but inherently these are long developing plays.

It was obvious that LSU's game plan was to get the ball to their athletes on quick passes. A pregame look at Clemson's defensive line likely dictated that.

Anyway it is night and day to Bama's passing game.

Definitely some. But he also left some clean pockets and held the ball too long at times.
I think some of the concepts were too deep for his arm.

I was slightly disappointed in the arm strength on display.

I do think he’s made for this system with the way he hit Bernard on those medium routes.

I thought he looked better wrt to arm strength than I’ve seen before.

A lot of plays looked off because of timing and pressure.

If he’s in sync he’s got an AJ level arm at worst.

When he’s throwing off balance and pressing it dropped to maybe Coker or JPW level.

Of all the problems his arm strength is low on the list for me.

He would beat a lot teams on a CNS squad.

Also In Ty's defense, he probably hadn't practiced against a defense with that much speed flying around all summer. He has been practicing against a defense that puts forth half the effort, it seems.

I have said this numerous times over the years but Saban gets the “Bear” treatment that older crowd constantly beats their chest with in which there can never be a truly objective analysis on the actual decline of the dynasty because of the accomplishments that they made in the run. Dynasty’s don’t decline under a cliff like Max Kellerman thinks. They decline usually under championship seasons. I put the decline at the “2nd and 27” game. Yes we won a championship but after that night Saban shifted focus onto recruiters over talent development coaches. We suddenly stopped getting aces in coaching and started to get guys like Locks and Pete. Since 2018 everyone has been killing us at getting can’t miss DLinemen. Why? Because we had no one at Alabama since then can develop them. Why did saban go this route? Because he was constantly having to replace ace coaches every year because everyone wanted them as head coaches or coordinators. Saban chose comfort with recruiting over the stresses of constantly having to replace ace staff.

Saban teams from 21-23 were constantly high in penalties and had extreme difficulties on the road in SEC play. So it’s not new for us to field undisciplined teams and struggle on the road. What’s new is that we can’t seem to make halftime adjustments and we lose more of them. But again having Bryce young masks a lot.
Well said. This was evident when CNS that next season named Tosh DC to retain him because of his recruiting prowess. Eventually had to appoint Golding to help Tosh with play calling. Then CNS kept PG as DC too long, even after he was often “too smart” with some of his configurations.

The coup de grace was when Sarkisian repaid Saban’s kindness to him by taking half of the Alabama staff with him after the ‘20 season. The loss of Flood Bama’s OL coach was especially painful but the upgrade to a very good NFL OL coach and former NFL HC would surely render that loss meaningless.

It’s been downhill ever since, with the truly magical Bryce Young masking the degree of the precipitous decline by his QB wizardry. I doubt that his incredible performance is fully appreciated by many Alabama fans. He probably converted more 3rd and longs in 2 years ant Alabama than Brady and Manning did in their combined 40+ year NFL careers.

(I don’t care if Bryce never completes another NFL pass, he’s easily the greatest college QB in Alabama history. Too bad he didn’t have enough help. He broke the JH curse with the drive and pass to Brooks, then Metchie. After being spit on and shown no protection or respect by the refs, he would have led Alabama to 50+ points and victory over UT but for the drop of a perfect little pass.)

The main issue is the defense. Once we realized we couldn't stop the gus bus offense, we threw our offensive gameplan out the window and all the pressure was on Ty to make all the plays. Ty was also underwhelming in the same way Jake Coaker was in his first few starts before being subbed in the Ole Miss game and getting a fire lit under him.

About a year ago, I had Chinese food, my fortune said "Your favorite sports team will be very successful." Since then the Braves have completely self destructed, the falcons have been well the falcons, Alabama has been a train wreck, and my other favorite NFL team has been blown out in a Super Bowl.

Those dang fortune cookies get your hopes up a lot of the time. Maybe your cookie was meant for someone else. :D
