I take issue with the a couple of things here.

I'll start by saying I don't think the roster is as good as people make out.

While he didn't inherit a losing culture, it wasn't exactly in tip top shape when he came in.

CKD DOES need to recruit his own players. It's HIS team.

Most importantly, people far underestimate the challenges involved in inheriting a football program that had the same head coach for 16 years.

I think those are all fair points.

Our roster probably isn’t what it was in the prime Saban years but with NIL I don’t think it will be consistently ever again.

As far as culture is concerned, again maybe not prime Saban, but it isn’t going to get much better anywhere else.

As far as recruiting his players, the big draw to CKD is he’s always over achieved with his rosters. No matter the scheme or player fit this is the most talented team he’s ever had. Plus, he does have one class in place now.

Outside of maybe a few exceptions what schools are you swapping rosters and culture with?

I think the problem we have starts at the top. We now have good coaches, similar to the rest of college football, but not great. Not the best and that is the Bama standard. Unfortunately without great coaches everything else slips from great to good. I hope I’m wrong but nothing I’ve seen this far gives me tons of hope that everything is about to get better.

I think I read somewhere that they use the performance devices (forgot what its called) during the game.

Perhaps they need to see what effort was being exerted by those players during those plays and adjust the depth chart accordingly...?🤔
They do. I think Grubb referred to it IIRC referring to one of the WRs.

Just watch some Bray Hubbard low lights, I can’t remember our defense ever looking this bad.

The lack of effort is shocking. But that can be easily rectified - bench anyone who isn't giving his all. The question is: does our HC have the guts to do it?

I'd rather lose playing 2s and 3s who are trying their best than to win a few games playing guys who don't really care.

I also think that if CKD stepped up to the mike at a press conference - even if we lost the game - and stated that so-and-so and so-and-so were benched because they weren't hustling, most fans would be okay with that.

The public protection and coddling of the players should be a thing of the past. These players are literally being paid to play football, and their checks get cashed whether they play good or bad. They need to be treated more like professional players than during the days when they weren't getting paid to play.

Can't do any of that....the guy might not be the coaches friend then. Since we're worried more about being friends than coaches, that would be the antithesis of the philosophy.

Poor preparation doesn't cause poor effort... but it waters and fertilizes it, especially on the defensive side of the ball. When what you're keys aren't working... either because they're not repped enough or you're keying the wrong thing, it leads to hesitation... We looked like we didn't know whether to defecate or go blind. Performances like this cause players to lose trust... couple that with a lack of discipline from the top and the end result won't be pretty at all.

hell, at this point they need to rig those things with shock collars

i'm not sure if this is what grubb referred to or not. it's totally not a brassiere

I'm sorry, I am not familiar with the term "performance device." Not really concerned with what they are called, but what do they do?

Measures the amount of effort exerted by the player. (Can't remember what it's called, but it was brought in under Saban and was widely acclaimed as cutting edge.)

My mind is drawing a blank on the name of it at the moment...

Sadly......not sure you'll ever get someone as discipline-oriented as the GOAT......

I love how the house lights are off inside the house for the entire commercial. Laying down the rules in the dark to save money 😂.
