This is in the pregame thread that’s closed. I asked Grok what write a post game summary of the game. Pretty much nailed it. -
. Alabama edges out a gritty road win, 28-24. The Tide’s aerial attack exploits Missouri’s secondary, while their defense forces enough stops to overcome the Tigers’ rushing edge—though expect a late scare from Mizzou’s balanced offense in a game that stays under the total.

Had them on the ropes and let them off.

Sack fumble to open the second half allowed them to tie it up.

Defense was very good on third down against the number one converting team in the country though.

Lee dropped a pick, but made up for it.

Jam had 85 yards for the day and before the injury would have had over 100 yards in b2b games. Hardy had 52! The OL pass protection was average today, but Ty held on to the ball too long again.
#5 was frustrated a couple of times, unusual for him. He was open early in the route and Ty waited until he ran into coverage to throw the ball.

Riley is averaging 4.4 (Similar to Miller who's averaging 4.8 yard per carries).

What I'm surprised is Dre Washington ... Why aren't we not using him more. Hill is hitting 3.8 yard per carries.

So If Miller is out again, I think we go back to Riley/Hill/Washington or Dear.

I would really like to see a whole lot more of AK Dear

Kevin Riley is flat out a better player. I think it’s time we move on from Young.
We need to be able to use one of our big backs. As we saw today, a player (Jam) can go down on any play. Kevin Riley can't move the pile and get those tough inside yards on a consistent basis. I don't care if its Young or Hill. We NEED one of our big backs to have the light go on so we can use them.

Which is why we brought in Hill at the end

And can somebody put Richard Young’s picture on milk carton? Maybe someone can find him somewhere….

In this era of NIL it’s survive and advance. No more style points, no more joyless murder ball (unless you’re a Big10 team that only has to play 1-2 ranked teams a season). Good sign that we can win a road game against a top 15 team playing our B-/C game. This is a game we would have lost last year.

Im getting tired of our guys getting hit on the head and having concussions and no flags being thrown.... SEC is basically saying its ok to go headhunting on Bama.
Did we not have a targeting call on hitting a RB a few weeks ago? What is most perplexing is that there appeared to be no review whatsoever on either hit today. I personally think targeting is magnified in official's empty heads a bit too much (kind of like holding on any big special teams play), but not even a review? Are you kidding?

I am not an ACC fan, but at least they had the marbles to mic up their replay both during a game... I couldn't imagine if they did that in the SEC (although they could probably play the Benny Hill Show theme as background music). Complete clown show as far as officiating. At least they didn't call many holding calls...

I really believe that hit on Miller was close enough to call targeting but it did not look like they even considered it. I mean how does a guy get a concussion if the helmet is not involved.
As I understand it, Jam wasn't considered a defenseless player--that narrows the definition of targeting considerably. A couple of years ago they redifined "crown" to mean the very top of the helmet--drape a saucer-sized circle of paper over the helment and you're in the vicinity.

Plus, there was no way we get two targeting calls in the same game. ;)

This was a 17-21 point win today that we played into a 3 point nail bitter. We have got to put our foot on the competition’s neck and finish them when the opportunity presents itself.

On the positive side, this is a game we would have most likely found a way to lose last year. This team is gutsy. But they are a work in progress.

I’ve got nothing but disgust for Mizzou, and if they lose every game they play from here on, then good. They reflect their cocky coach and are dirty, garbage players.
They were dirty before Drinkwitz. Odom’s teams were worse. They were much more overt than now. Now they hit hard, maybe illegally but they don’t twist ankles and knees in the pile and punch opponents in vulnerable areas, etc. They were far worse. I hate to say it, but they were cheap shot punks under Odom.

I’ve always tried to like Missouri but it has often been hard.
