I’ll end the night with this. NIL has ruined college football, and this kind of crap is going to continue when players do podcasts and interviews during the season. They thought they had arrived and failed to prepare.

There are 5 automatic bids that make teams outside the top 10 kind of irrelevant, this includes the ACC, Big 12 and spot to the weakling conferences because that's how playoffs tend to work. So, there's a very real possibility that you have to finish top 9 to make it into the playoff and probably at least 10.
If you look at last year as an example, only three teams make it in with two losses under that scenario, that would be Missouri, Oregon, and Penn State.
Ole Miss and Oklahoma are both left out with 2 losses. So, Alabama could get in with two losses, but it's far from a sure thing and we'd need to cheer for Vanderbilt from here on out to try to up that SoS in order to improve that possibility.
what other top 10 team with playoff aspirations has a loss to a team in the realm of Vandy?
Only one of those was really his fault (the illegal forward pass). Unfortunately it’s not the first time he’s done that…

How in the world was it not targeting when not one but two DBs crushed our WR"s head. Dude was out on his feet, dropped the ball and then dropped to the ground, out like a light. The idiot replay official says it's not. The mere fact the poor guy was knocked out immediately when the hits happened are all you need to know this was forcible contact to the head/neck(times 2 in this case). I hate SEC officials. But then our defensive players hand hits their QB helmet and personal foul. I realize it is letter of the law, but it's the dumbest rule in football. QB is wearing a helmet like the rest of the players for protection. A slap of a hand to helmet will produce no injury. Rule needs to go. Or put the QB in an evening dress and put flag football flags on him.

Gotta give it up for Pavia - from out here in NM, not a hotbed of D1 FB talent. Undersized, unrecruited, but tough and smart and now has both Bama’s and Auburn’s scalps on his belt.

getting sacked wasn't his fault at all. That's on Pritchett, but not holding onto the ball is on JM - that pressure was coming right up into his face and he has to see that and at least secure the ball. The INT wasn't a great pass either. Again, not anywhere close to 100% his fault, but putting that pass where it should be makes it less likely the WR doesn't secure the pass and the ball ending up batted up in the air.
On replay, Milroe was looking left the whole time. I hate penalties, but if you are a tackle and you get beat like a mule, it's better to grab the DL than let your QB get decleated.
Today sucked and I hate the feeling I have in the pit of my stomach. But I take solace in the fact that it could have been worse. I could have been born into a family of barners. I will suffer for a few days, but that beats suffering for the entirety of my 54 years on this planet if I was a barn fan.
Both calls were actually correct as the rules are written. While generally I think SEC refs have a lot of room to improve, these calls were not examples of that.
targeting is to a defenseless player, OR with the crown of the helmet. When an O player lowers his head into a hit, he's pretty much never going to get that call. Maybe that's not what it should be, but that's what the NCAA rulebook says.
QB roughing, like it or not, is any forcible contact above the shoulders after the pass is released. Again, not that I love the way it's written, but that is what it is right now.

The Jalen of the last 2 weeks leads last years team to 15-0
That is my main positive right now.
His passing has been phenomenal the last 2 games.
But even with his impressive performances we won’t get far this year if this defense doesn’t improve in a hurry.
There are people out there that will **** on Jalen no matter what .
I like Jalen, but I have some concerns about him.
Today's loss is not on Jalen. A defense that only forced VANDERBILT to punt only twice in a game is solely responsible.

agreed. Would have been way better for Pritchett to just tackle the dude, but even if the read is to the left, a QB needs to be able to feel that kinda pressure and just eat the sack. I don't think JM could have avoided that in any way at all, just that with the pressure coming front side should have been able to at least avoid losing the ball.
I was just fixing to post that. He was looking left before the snap and didn't stop until he got hit. I think the RT slipped on that play. Can't remember for sure.
