This was a perfect storm game. Literally everything went right for them, everything went wrong for us, and they got all the help from the officials. Can’t win games like this.

No, we just played like entitled brats who thought Vandy would fold cause we showed up with the crimson helmets. The officials called the game just fine.

The coaches didn't prepare the team

The players didn't execute worth a hoot, nor did it appear that many of them cared that much about the fact they were getting their tails kicked by VANDERBUILT.

There are some stupid statements that are ingrained in Bama fans’s minds in the Saban era…

1) Bama beat Bama

2) The other team prepared 2-3 weeks for Bama.

3) The refs costed us

Yes they can be somewhat true but ultimately football games come down to execution and effort. We did neither well today and Vandy did. I think we are too caught up in our press clippings and too inexperienced at defense to win today.

Yes, some fans use those same 3 excuses while at the same time make fun of other fanbases that use those same excuses.

Vandy did have last week off so we know for sure they have been practicing for 2 weeks. I do think that helped them a great deal.

All contributing factors, but the fact is, our defense was exposed in the second half last week and now every team in the conference knows how to boat race our secondary. Today will not be the last day we see this.

It was so bad, I was actually laughing there at the end every time Vandy picked up another first down. And this was not normal laughter, it’s the kind of laugh you hear just before someone tries to kill Batman. I didn’t even notice when my wife crept out of the living room.

They did not call the game just fine. They robbed us of a 1st down on the Williams catch at a crucial time. They picked up the targeting flag after Kobe Prentice got knocked out on the field. They gave Vandy a phantom 1st down that led to a TD, and it likely should have been a field goal. They let Vandy hold our DL all game. One of their guys literally horse collared our DL when he was trying to make a sack. Don’t try to gaslight me with that crap. They were horrible today.

Some of these players are making more than most position coaches at other schools. Our coaches are well paid but wouldn't be surprised if we have a few players that are banking close to same as their position coach.

Some how this NIL stuff needs to be performance based with incentives for team goals met. And payed at the end of the season when ever that is.

Certainly have to win out. A loss to Vandy is likely to be the worst loss of any team vying for a spot.

Maybe Vandy wins out and we get a rematch in the SEC championship.

yeah, we are. Losing to Vandy?!?! It's been 40 YEARS since that happened. Any team losing to VANDY does not deserve to be in the playoffs, and not a single player should be mentioned for any individual awards. It's VANDY. You simply DO NOT lose to VANDY.

For now. I think we'll be fine. We will get in with 1 loss. I don't know why he thinks we wont make playoff with 1 loss. It's early. he's not even thinking about other team's and their schedule in November/December.

Agreed - Alabama gets in with one loss because it likely means that Alabama is the SEC champion. Do we think that is likely?

I just can't understand how our defense got pushed all over the field. Their backs and receivers consistently gained yardage after contact. Our defense needs help.

I'm afraid that for this team, for this season, it's over. Lose to vandy and you don't deserve to be in contention for the playoffs.

We should just start building for next year to make the most of that.

Come on man. We still have the best talent in the country. Just got to pull it together and get some confidence. We lost focus and got embarrassed. It happens but you got to get up and move forward, preferably positively.

You never know. They just gotta beat Tennessee, TAMU and auburn and it's doable.

The defense did absolutely nothing…. Absolutely zero resistance to what Vandy was doing to them.

This loss is on that abysmal defensive performance.

With a stop or two we score 14 more points. They score less and the game is not close

There is a huge difference in losing one game and “the season is over”, especially in the 12 team playoff era. I doubt many saw us running the table after we lost to Ole Miss in 2015, or last year. If we don’t come out on fire against USCe, then it’s time to panic.

I mean if we go by that logic then Bama should have never lost any playoff game or LSU game because CNS was the GOAT. I think this originated from 2010 when 5-6 teams had a bye before us. But there are so many teams that we have destroyed off their bye week but no one uses that excuse when we win.

Cause it's going to be the single worst loss of any team in consideration. lose to Vandy and you don't deserve to go. period.

BTW, the Vandy we played today is not the Vandy of old. They went out and bought a bunch of thugs and a few talented players. If you have any doubt, look at their thuggish behavior, watch the post-game interview with their QB. Definitely not "Vandy." They will win more games.

I'm not making excuses. We are much more talented and should have beat them soundly. But welcome to the new college football. NIL and the transfer portal have changed the game significantly - and not in a good way, I might add. Welcome to the new NFL minor leagues.
