Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. UGA...

The only fan worse than those who long for the days of Bryant will be those that long for the days of Saban.
I do long for those days, because those were the two greatest eras of any team in college football history( better than yours OU/Bud Wilkinson) . But if you can’t move forward with the times, you get the dark periods of Alabama football. Living in the past does no one any good. MAL Moore Understood that, and he lived the Golden Era of Coach Bryant. Celebrate the past, but live for the future. Applies especially to college football.

Have you ever noticed that every time Bama is a bubble team there are suddenly new criteria that matters to these committees. This even goes back to the 4 team playoff days. It hasn’t always kept us out but every single time there is a new metric that suddenly matters.

This year these idiots are suddenly concerned about rushing yards, but only when talking about Bama. They purposely looked for a stat to knock us down a peg.

Suddenly head to head only matters when you are ranked next to each other. They created this nonsense so they can ignore our UGA win in Athens, and prop up their media darling ND over Miami.

They literally make it up as they go along. They publicly push this false narrative that they have a list of set criteria they follow. No, what they really do is rank teams however they want, with all their preconceived biases built in, and then have to make up the narrative on the spot to justify their rankings.

They also need to stop this Tuesday night show and weekly rankings crap. They claim the weekly rankings are for transparency, but it creates the controversies because of the stupid changes and excuses they use. The committee needs to stop being a made for TV spectacle. They come together when all the games are over and release their bracket and seedings.

If we are going to continue this committee stuff then it needs to have a set in stone list of criteria and nothing else matters. They need to create a quad based system, or something similar, like basketball uses. Something that makes more sense then making it up as they go.

What does S&C have to do with that?

Toughness is a mindset instilled at practice.

I’m not removing any aspect of the program from being looked at and improved, but this is like firing Womack because the receivers can’t beat the jam.
If you ask what S&C have to do with developing a high level of toughness, you obviously haven’t been through one.

Can I long for the Bill Curry days? Lol. That’s really what we have now.

He’s not Shula or DuBose. But he sure feels like Curry to me.
Maybe, but everyone is comparing him to coaches with deep pockets, or coaches who coached during different eras.

The team needs physicality, that can’t be bought, it has to be instilled or fostered into something.

There is a lot of game film out now..no surprises so we need to be changing things up...but Grubb hasn't shown any change at all...we are easy to gameplan for
And film showed week after week our OL was our weakness. Teams started taking risks and sending pressure and it worked. Its hard to point to other elements of the offense when regardless of the playcall the OL is letting free rushers into the backfield. We couldnt even run a swing pass to the running without Ty having to throw around or over a free rusher.

Physicality has nothing to do with mental toughness. This team is mentally tough, as evidenced by the close victories. This team doesn’t use its strength to dominate opponents.

Basketball has a committee, but we never see their playoff list until after conference championships. There is no need for a weekly ranking.

and if they do, mayhem will explode.....you can't punish a team for playing in a championship game.

It’s not punishing them for the CG ‘appearance’

It’s punishment for getting Blownout by 3 TD’s with -3 yards rushing.

The loss by 2 TD’s to a ACC team at 5-7 that finished 13th in the ACC still exists too.

OU is now the only ‘respectable’ loss.

We are now 10-3 with 2 Bad no show losses.

I have zero qualm with the opinion that we hired the wrong coach.

But nobody gets off that easy, you don’t just get to throw a fit and complain about the result.

If that’s the viewpoint then cough up the name of WHO WAS AVAILABLE
I watched CKD's presser after the game...embarrassing. Excuses and begging to get in the CFP. There was a time we would have kicked the door down.

Have you forgotten Saban doing essentially the same thing in both 2017 and 2022? Appeals to “we had injured players” and “we’d be favored over every other team.”

Yes, both of those were better teams than 2025, and the 2017 absolutely deserved it, but let’s not pretend our head coach isn’t doing what every head coach does who wants his team to play in the big games.

But they will find other ways to “punish”.
5th SEC team, we can’t have them dominate the field.
No run game. They’ve already thrown this out as if it really matters.
Offense looks lackluster of late.
Too many injuries. Remember Florida State?
Dominated in last game.
They’ll use whatever they need to in order to justify it. They positioned us in a spot where it would be easy to drop us out. Had we been even 1 or 2 spots higher in the last poll I’d feel like a shoe-in.
It matters not though. I don’t see us pulling off another win, at another SEC stadium this year. And frankly I think the committee would force inter-conference matchups as quick as they can to make the SEC cannibalize itself.

You’re correct, and I shouldn’t post when tired. But overall point would still be true were that would happened.

Let me throw another wrench into the whole thing: what if Georgia decided to play nothing but back ups yesterday since:
1) they were already in anyway
2) it would guarantee another SEC team in the playoff, which is more money for Georgia as well
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if teams agreed ahead of time either play backups or treat the game like the Pro Bowl in the future.
