I was barely a year old in 82, but I can remember 88-06. Hopefully we NEVER revert to that level ever again. But like the majority of posters on here, we’ve watched enough Bama football to know when we have a NC-caliber team or we’re about to have a long season. I don’t feel confident about winning out at this point. We’ve been trending in this direction slowly since 2021, we just had the talent in key positions to mask it. We haven’t gone more than 2 years without winning a natty but this year just feels different. It’s been fun, but I think we’re seeing the end of this era of Alabama football.

We're trying to re-establish the run... Fair enough.
But it's doesn't look at all like it's for balance. It looks like we're doing it because we don't trust our passing game. And we don't. We know it and UT knew it within half a quarter.
Stating the obvious... but we've got to fix that.
In spite of the big plays, I like the physicality of our D better than recent years. I'm thinking we'll see improvement there. Not sure about O.
Hurts and Tua and Jones and Young are hard acts to follow.
It looked like they ran the same run play p the middle 25-30 times. No variety.

The defense played ok as a whole, considering. We got no pressure at all but I refuse to believe that is because of lack of talent. This looked just like a typical Golding scheme. Something isn’t right.
well, the result was the same, but the root cause is different. it happened some last week, but was very obvious this week. Steele is dropping the OLB into coverage and only rushing 3 guys way more often than we've done in recent history. Under golding, we would have rushed anderson inside like a DT, but still rushed 4. Steele did try to bring some ILB pressure a few times, but too much of it was still in the middle, and didn't put pressure on the edges at all. I really wish Steele would just unleash Turner and Braswell as the pass rushers they are...

Same. I think the dynasty is over. What a heck of a run tho.
Might be a bit early for that. I see the problem this season as a case where we recruited a 5 star QB (Simpson) who failed to develop, so we have to muddle through with what we got. Next season we have another 5 star (Sayin) coming in. If he can win the starting job we could return to glory if he's as good as advertised. If we fail to win with Sayin then yes, it might be over. We'll see.

Ole Miss is coming up in 2 weeks. They don't have the personnel to beat us but they will have this tape, Kiffin, and Golding smelling blood in the water. They will be on the phone with Sark and his staff in the morning. We get the same performance by Milroe and the OL and that game will closer than it should be.
I dunno if you saw the Ole Miss vs Tulane game today, but Golding's special touch was evident all day long. Everything that drove us nuts last year, plus a dropoff in talent.

Maybe that was the only play the OL felt comfortable running. Because most other plays they were getting their jock straps wrapped around their heads. Lol. Hard to run "variety " when you're getting physically beat on the LOS.

I feel bad for Milroe and what he is going to wake up to tomorrow morning. He seems like a good kid and I can only imagine what he's going to read and hear going forward.
Well I think a lot of that falls on the shoulders of the social media hype train. I really wish people would understand there is more to being a qb than just having a strong arm and being able to extend plays with your legs.

The mesh concepts and deep over routes we run are highly successful when we have protection. The problem is people are blitzing us so they don’t have to defend them. We don’t have an effective quick game to respond to pressure or screen game to block them when they drop 8 to smother those routes.
Mesh concepts are suicide if your qb can’t hit short crossing routes. We gotta change up want we do or change our qb

CNS Press Conference summary: "we gotta do better"

on Milroe: "we never discussed switching" "interception was critical" "we're going to work to get all our players better"

On Defense: "We didn't do a very good job of adjusting"

"Cant let ball over your head if you're in the secondary so we'll get that fixed"

on bad snaps: "very surprised. Had issues with that. False starts, bad snaps put you in bad positions. Discipline of playing with emotion has to be channeled into tangible functional exection...has to be intentional. Bad things happen if you are emotional."

"
we didn't do what we needed to do to beat a good team"
None of that sounds good when we’ve been seeing this for 3 yrs

I believe so. Last year someone told me I was insane for not having any faith in the GOAT and the best was still.yet to come. The best is NOT still ahead. I just don't understand how anybody can really believe that.
Hope springs eternal. It is what fans do. I haven't been able to understand how basically the same guys from the poor offensive line last year were supposed to be road graders playing murder ball this year. But fans always think trophies are just over the horizon. That is part of the fun.

Golding had Will Anderson doing the same thing. Maybe it's CNS's idea.
True on Milroe too.
It’s part of the scheme we use. They drop bc they have to based on the formation/play. It’s why sark worked us and kiffin seemingly always works us. They know the formations and players and can put people in positions where they are doing something they aren’t great at. Tennessee too. I shudder to think what will happen in that game if downs can’t figure things out
