Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Reliaquest Bowl, Bama vs. Michigan, Dec. 31, 11:00 AM, ESPN...

That interception yesterday was just like the one he threw against Texas the second game of season in 2023. He never saw the coverage and predetermined his throw. Truthfully, JM telegraphed most every throw yesterday. If Michigan would have been at full strength on defense, it is likely he would thrown a couple more.

A notion of actual “progression” by JM from start of 2023 until now is purely an illusion.

I think Michigan got more turnovers against us yesterday than they did all season. Just pathetic.

I've said this 100 times, but why not. Hurts, on his first day as a starter as a true freshman, was significantly better than Nilroe RIGHT NOW - and it's not even really close.

Also have said this a bunch. JM wasn't a guy we really went after. We missed on all the QBs we really wanted that year and he was the best we could get to flip. Once he was here we tried to get him to transfer or switch positions. He should have done one of those, but refused.

As for QB skills - that is on him to develop a lot in the off-season. He's hired different QB coaches since he was a freshman in HS, and still is what he is.
IIRC Drake Maye had been an early commit for us. He then flipped to UNC. Most of that was expected as he had so many family ties to Chapel Hill.
Milroe was a Texas commit at the time, but even they took him as a “project”. No one in Austin was necessarily heartbroken when Jalen flipped to Alabama. Jalen in high school was an athlete that played QB, not a QB that had athleticism. That is a big difference.
Not even the recruiting services could agree on what he was as a QB. Some saying he was a pocket passer that could make plays running. Others saying he was a dual threat, best suited for zone read/RPO. But he didn’t play in a RPO offense in HS (at least that is what I remember).
Milroe was project then. Four years later he is still a project.

A failed project

Maye was one of them for sure. We had someone else in that class also on the hook, I can't recall who. It was always going to be really hard to get a top level QB in that class since we got Young the year before, and everyone knew they'd be sitting behind him until he left for the NFL.

He strikes me more as a bit of a selfish person who likes to act like a person with a good heart. But I may be reading him wrong.
Here’s the telling dichotomy that makes me think you’re closer to being right than to being wrong: he sulks on the bench, but sprints to the tunnel at the half to high five his teammates in front of the cameras…

I think we were in the running and made an offer to the kid who played QB at USCw this year but he never panned out either.

I will add, no NIL dealings has seen the light of day, so that much is not unusual.
Unless the alleged LANK deal was an oral understanding, there’s a written agreement. The university is a public institution. Couldn’t some enterprising journalist drop a FOIA (or whatever the Alabama equivalent is) on the university and get all the details?

Good morning and Happy New Year!

I haven't posted in a few days, but here goes.

1. Our Offensive play calling hasn't changed since the LSU game. Lazy game planning by the staff. I don't know if that's the best we can do with our personnel or what. It has to change.

2. Totally upset that Simpson didn't replace Milroe after it was evident that he wasn't able to be effective. I'm not sure if that has to do with the fact that we don't have a game plan for when he comes in or what.

3. The Defense played great under the circumstances where they were in the game most of the first half.

4. What's the point in having a RB like Jam Miller if you ain't gonna use him more.

As much as I can appreciate all the success we had under CNS, I can't honestly see how he came to signing Milroe and hiring Doug Marrone. There had to be a massive amount of hubris or massive amount of neglect in these 2 program wrecking decisions.
There was so much going on with coaching assistants and in Saban's other business pursuits to require a deep dive and still not come up with "the" answer.
