My fear (defensively) is Wommack will get out coached on top of our lack of discipline. This is why I hope our offensive is "on" because with Vandy's type of offense I don't have much confidence in Wommack winning the battle of schematics. I hope the offense is on and puts up 40+.I'm starting to feel like Vanderbilt is overrated. To me their ceiling is the old Ole Miss and Texas A&M teams that gave Alabama fits, but I'm not sure they're even there yet (if I recall correctly those teams also lost revenge games against Alabama).
I'd compare them to Indiana last year. They dominated a lot of weak competition, but when they stepped on the field with elite teams they just didn't have the athletes to compete.
To me the real question is just if Alabama plays to their potential or not. If Alabama does, Vanderbilt has no chance in my opinion. Last year Alabama had the equivalent of 3 turnovers to 0 for Vanderbilt, they had more penalties, they had the ball less than half the time Vanderbilt did, and Vanderbilt converted over 4 times as many third downs. Not to mention it was on the road and Vanderbilt was coming off a bye. It was still a one score game!
So, if Alabama is out of position, if they miss a lot of tackles, if Wommack doesn't do a good job this game, then yes Alabama can lose. But if Alabama shows up for this game well prepared? I know what the outcome will be in that scenario.
