Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

there is an opinion piece in the New York Times online right now, written by Maureen Dowd. If you want to know what Paterno heard or at least the exact quotes the Grand Jury was told he heard you can read it there.

I did not link it for a reason. It's graphic, it's disgusting, nauseating and infuriating. It has completely moved me from the "let JoPa go out with his dignity" camp to the "run him out of town on a rail" camp. My bet is that it's more than Brent wants on tidefans, I respect that so I won't link it.

J

Jon I am with you 100% and I've read and heard enough already to have formed a pretty strong opinion. As I said in the other thread on the topic they are lucky its God's job to forgive them and not mine because I have none for them. Personally I have a couple tall ladders and some short pieces of rope I would gladly loan any of those involved if they would like to put them to use.

My reasoning for my previous post was because as a long time poster on here I have a feeling for who Boston is and I think sometimes even when you have a good point the mob mentality takes root on the board and no one takes a moment to understand your point. Boston has a valid point in trying to gather all the info and its not that he's defending anyone, he just has his way of processing things.

Joe Pa is out.......effectively immediately. ABC Philly is reporting it. Sorry no link but it should be made official soon.

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

the only way to change the culture (and they do put the CULT in culture) at Penn State is to disband the football program for a few years and start from scratch.

i disagree. there are 85 kids getting an education bc of football. countless others who depend on the program monetarily and many other programs who do very good work for the community and it is driven by the football team. the people involved in it should be fired and incarcerated. everyone else should take a long look at themselves and make sure procedures are put into place to keep this from ever happening again. additionally, everyone, not just at penn state, should take a long hard assessment of themselves and realize that we, as a nation, are morally bankrupt and these incidents are happening way too often. whether it is priests, schoolteachers, coaches, corrupt cops, etc... we are all to blame for excusing and covering up sickening behavior. this isnt an indication of the culture at penn st.- this is an indication of the culture of our nation.

Tom Bradley (long time DC) is interim head coach

Since they know no facts, the University should have just suspended him. This would have effectively been the same thing, but they sound like fools up there saying they don't know the facts at this point, but have to act.

Pretty sure a grand jury testimony counts as "facts."

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

This is making me sick. I can't read anymore of the details. It's way beyond what I can tolerate at this point. I am glad Joe Pa is gone. He needed to be gone after what I have read. The president needed to go and they need to keep chopping heads because this entire ordeal is so sickening I have no words to adequately convey my disgust.

He's 85. How do you suspend an 85 year old man?

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

I thought Bama vs. LSU highlights made me mad....This is inexcusable. The fact that he had the audacity to say that he would "retire at the end of the season" is baffling. That right there shows you the ego on this man. As if he still held the cards and had the ability to pick and choose when hed retire after all of this. Unbelievable

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

This presser is one of the most surreal things I've ever seen in my life. I never thought I'd hear a BOT member be asked "Do you realize that students are rioting downtown?"

Re: PSU Coach Joe Paterno says that he has decided to retire at the end of the season

I have a friend from Nebraska that is heading to the Nebraska / Penn State this weekend. I joked with him this morning that there may be no game to go to in Sate College this weekend.

I think there is about a 25% chance now that the game/rest of the season for Penn State doesn't happen.
