Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for 40 counts of sexual assaults of mi

WOW...Ok...So Sandusky spoke tonight to Bob Costas...Terrible decision by his lawyer to allow him to speak publicly.

Here's the link to the interview... When asked if he was sexually attracted to young boys, instead of saying no, he spent all of 15 seconds saying that he enjoys young people, etc. Just awful..

And speaking of bad decisions by Sandusky's lawyer, he got a 17 year old pregnant...WHEN HE WAS 49 and later married her. This entire thing is getting more and more disgusting.

Here is a link to the video of the Costas interview.

I don't think anyone ever thought he was. The compassion was for Paterno, not Sandusky

I had lost patience with Paterno watching his petulant press conferences after big games the past few years. He simply looked arrogant, self-centered and out of touch.

Now that I understand he was stonewalling an investigation into child rape under his program I consider him scum.

Imagine how much easier it would have been for Bubba Clinton if he'd just said, "I didn't take a shower with that woman! Miss Lewinski!"

Or if he had just said "Yes, I was in the shower with that woman, but we were just horsing around with that cigar."

I just heard that McQueary is supposed to be on the CBS Evening News for an interview tonight....should be interesting....

To echo what others have said, I don't see how a man discovers a child being raped and walks away from that situation. I'm rescuing that kid, beating Sandusky to a pulp and calling the police. That's it.

this confirms one of the big rumors i was hearing locally last week. while he might not have attacked Sandusky like most of us would have done he did more than the Joe Pa told everyone which is why sneaky Joe lawyered up.. The rumor locally was that he did indeed go to the police which was covered up by Joe and the campus police but it was also the reason he was set to coach on saturday. They didn't want to set a precedent that you can lose your job by blowing the whistle on a child rapist and that's exactly why he's on paid leave right now, not fired, not resigning.

(CBS/AP)
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - A day after the former Penn State assistant football coach who is charged with sexual abuse of boys declared his innocence in a television interview, an email surfaced from a key witness against him, saying he stopped an alleged attack in the team's showers.Mike McQueary, the graduate assistant who a grand jury report said saw Jerry Sandusky allegedly sodomizing a boy in the locker room, said he stopped the act and went to police. That added confusion to the already emotionally raw situation that has enveloped Penn State University and resulted in the firing of coach Joe Paterno, the ousting of president Graham Spanier and charges of perjury against the athletic director and a former senior vice president.
The Nov. 8 email from McQueary to a friend, made available to The Associated Press, said: "I did stop it, not physically ... but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room ... I did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police .... no one can imagine my thoughts or wants to be in my shoes for those 30-45 seconds ... trust me."

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for 40 counts of sexual assaults of mi

This saga continues and gets more & more rich. Now there's a guy who says Penn St. officials rejected his claim of a Penn St. professor allegedly molesting him.

Story here

A new victim is claiming another member of the Penn State faculty sexually abused him years ago, and he said when he brought his abuse complaints to university officials, he was turned away.

Paul McLaughlin, who is now in his mid-40s, told ABC News that now-retired Penn State professor John "Jack" Neisworth, who is a nationally acclaimed voice on child development, sexually abused him in the late 1970s to early '80s when he was between the ages of 11 and 15.McLaughlin said, after repressing the memories of his alleged abuse, that he decided to confront Neisworth over the phone in 2001 as part of his therapy. He tape-recorded the conversation, in which he claims that the professor admitted to performing oral sex on him.

"I was in the process of trying to get him to open up about some of the sexual acts and what not, and he actually interrupted me and says, 'Do you remember driving up on the hill?'" McLaughin said. "I said, 'Wasn't that the first time you went down on me?' He said, 'I don't know if it was the first time but it was certainly fierce,' was his words."......

Over the course of a few months from the end of 2001 into early 2002, McLaughlin said he sent his taped conversation with Neisworth to university officials, but each time he was "rejected."

"They didn't want copies of the tape recorded conversation. They didn't want to hear it, period," he said. "It was extremely emotional for me to have to make these calls to begin with, but then to be rejected the way I was and basically treated as if I had done something wrong in making those calls."

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The State College police chief said Wednesday that former Penn State graduate assistant Mike McQueary never reported allegations of child sex abuse against Jerry Sandusky to the department.

..."Absolutely not," State College Police Chief Tom King told NBC News when asked if McQueary had ever come to them with allegations concerning Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator for the Penn State football team.

"We don't have any records of him coming to us," King said.

McQueary, now an assistant football coach, wrote in a Nov. 8 email to a friend that he stopped an alleged sexual assault by Sandusky on a 10-year-old boy in 2002 and discussed it with police afterward.

"I did stop it, not physically ... but made sure it was stopped when I left that locker room ... I did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police .... no one can imagine my thoughts or wants to be in my shoes for those 30-45 seconds ... trust me," he wrote.

Of course, you don't. Those records were destroyed looong ago.

The quote says they "had discussions." To me, that's a far cry from saying, "I TRIED TO FREAKING REPORT THIS AND THE IDIOTS REFUSED TO LISTEN!"

I think he's trying to save face for failing to stop this.

DING DING DING!!

university police are run by a guy already with perjury charges against him. of course there isn't "any records of him coming to us". No matter how idiotic you think these guys are they're NOT THAT STUPID to have a record of McQueary's appearance. Simply put, this ends with an "us vs them" court scene where the jury cannot convict because the cover up runs so deep

much like i see "We don't have any records of him coming to us,"

to really mean "we made sure that you'll never prove he came to us"

a matter of semantics...

I think that McQueary is the convenient fall-guy for everyone.

He was a graduate assistant in one of the most powerful football programs in history, under one of the most legendary coaches of all time and the person that he would be accusing was also a legend who was the founder of a charity for children that was not only raking in millions of dollars, but had affiliations with some of the most powerful people in the state. Look at his options:

1.) Beat up Sandusky and rescue the child. If he had undertook this action, he would have immediately been arrested regardless of the situation and Sandusky and his powerful allies would have had time to cover up everything. The child would have been threatened, most likely, into not testifying against Sandusky and the attack would have been attributed to some internal feud within the athletic department. McQueary would have been surely convicted of assault, lost his graduate assistant position and then likely never been offered another opportunity anywhere.

2.) Go to the police. He allegedly did this and there's now no record of it. If Sandusky's judge has connections to his charity, it's likely that many police and other municipal officials did also. His complaint was probably lodged and then the athletic department and administration at PSU offered their "assistance" in the investigation. Sandusky denied everything, his reputation overwhelmed the credibility of McQueary and then an unofficial arbitration probably took place between Sandusky's power structure and a completely powerless McQueary: forget it and we will too. Fight it and become part of the Poconos.

3.) Go to JoePa and attempt to gain an ally that has the power to actually do something that won't necessarily turn you into a John Doe in the morgue. If JoePa (the most powerful person in the area) says that he'll handle it, then you can claim that you went to the ultimate authority and the culpability falls to him. If nothing is resolved, you will have to fight your conscience and you will lose respect for that authority in which you put your trust, but you had to protect yourself within this environment as well.

4.) Go public. McQueary could have gone public after his other actions failed and it might have worked to bring down Sandusky. However, a single accuser against a legend with a lot of powerful allies must have some proof or some allies of his own. The children that were being victimized were being helped by this charity and there's no telling what types of threats and other leverage would be used to keep them in denial. I doubt that many of the power structure at PSU would have supported him because what is happening now would have happened then. Once again, he likely would have been discredited, destroyed and maybe even worse.

I think that far too many people either think completely with their heart, they let outrage skew their visions of reality or maybe they're just too naive to understand the amount of inertia that McQueary would have been forced to overcome to really effect any scrutiny upon Sandusky at that point, given their diametric positions and reputations within the program at PSU.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for 40 counts of sexual assaults of mi

Well, most of you can probably tell by now why I'm so outraged at those who don't do more to protect children that they KNOW are victims of abuse. I don't believe McQueary for a second. He may have "had discussions" with police, but I seriously doubt they were formal, detailed, or immediate.
