Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

http://articles.philly.com/2011-11-07/news/30369783_1_coach-sandusky-jerry-sandusky-story-grand-jury
The former Penn State assistant football coach accused by a grand jury last week of sexually assaulting eight boys, wrote an autobiography titled Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story.

It was published in 2001 as an inspirational tale of a man devoted to helping, not hurting, disadvantaged children through Second Mile, a charity he founded in 1977.

According to a grand jury, Sandusky, 67, was a serial predator who used Second Mile to find and coerce boys, including one 8 years old, into various sex acts. Sandusky, arrested Saturday, faces 40 counts of sexually abusing minors.

I can see after reading this thread that I'm of like mind with the majorityWhen i first heard of this I thought that even if it was my best friend,I would beat him senseless, then call police myself,I have friends that are huge Penn State fans and this is going to destroy them. I can't imagine anything like this happening at Bama.Mind boggling to say the least! Not one man in this whole sorry episode can hold is head up because they all chose to do nothing!Jo Pa!!!You've got to GO!!

Re: Penn State Officials Reportedly Planning Paterno's Exit

This is a new version of 'Lack of Institutional Control'.

The time frame for the sexual assaults coincides with a period that the Catholic Church was having bad press from their Priests.
(assaults on Alter Boys)
I'm sure this may have been a consideration in their cover up.
REALLY BAD MISTAKE.

Penn State University needs a house cleaning from top to bottom...
Joe Pa should lead the wave of resignations. (It's been his program)

I know Penn State is a State University, but isn't it also still a Catholic University? Like Notre Dame and Boston College?

The fact of the matter is Jopa should have gone quietly 20 years ago as a Penn St hero and legend.

Penn State is a public school... it has no religious affiliation whatsoever.

Re: Penn State Officials Reportedly Planning Paterno's Exit

Joe Pa did not ask the GA just what exactly did he see? Really? He just called the AD the next day? Oh, he is so gone & if PSU knows what is good for their program they will axe him & the president today.
I know their has to be a trial, I know about the Lecross player yeah, gut this is not about criminal justice it is about doing the right thing.

All the former players taking up for him need to ask, after he called the AD did he try to get in touch with the kids parent & see what he could do to help the family?

Or is it all about Covering yourself ?

Re: Former Penn St. DC arrested for sexual assault of a minor

I don't know what is true or false at this point but just for a moment, imagine CPB's reaction to learning that was going on within his program.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

Despicable people, I have no respect for anyone at Penn State.

How very rational. They're all guilty by association. Let's build a double walled 14' fence around the campus during the next home game and call it State Penn. Really... really? You'd do well when making such statements as above to remember how guilty by association you and the rest of the Bamanation are to the actions of Hootie Ingram and others.

Condemning whole groups of people for the actions/inactions of a handful of moral failings is a moral failing in itself. Then again perhaps I should have just quoted something from Jesus about a splinter in the eye etc.

My point is lets not go overboard with this skinning all things PSU alive, they don't deserve it any more than we or any fan base has in the past. There are plenty of ivory tower shining/boney finger of indignation pointing/we are better, more moral, etc. than you PSU fans that are getting a big dose of humble pie.

Re: Former Penn St. DC arrested for sexual assault of a minor

The more we learn, the uglier it gets. I am not sure how reporting that one case in 2002 gets Paterno off the hook, legally. IMO, the NCAA should shut down PSU football forever.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

Failure to protect a child is just as malignant as willfully harming a child.

I am appalled over this entire situation. Both the commission of the acts and the omission of proper reporting and follow-through by those who knew of them are abhorrent.

Agreed.

Re: Penn State Officials Reportedly Planning Paterno's Exit

It is only a matter of time as to when Paterno will be gone. The only questions now are will he be fired, resign or be allowed to retire and how much time is left. I am predicting days.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/09/s...aid-to-be-planning-paternos-exit.html?_r=3&hp
Mr. Paterno’s day-to-day status with the program could be affected by the attorney general’s investigation. In explaining his actions, Mr. Paterno has publicly said he was not told of the graphic nature of an alleged 2002 assault by the assistant coach Jerry Sandusky of a young boy in the football building’s showers. He said the graduate assistant coach who reported the assault, Mike McQueary, said only that something disturbing had happened that was perhaps sexual in nature.

But on Tuesday a person with knowledge of Mr. McQueary’s version of events called Mr. Paterno’s claim into question. The person said that Mr. McQueary had told those in authority the explicit details of what he saw, including in his face-to-face meeting with Mr. Paterno the day after the incident.

At age 84 and in his 46th season as the Penn State head coach, Mr. Paterno has had an extraordinary run of success: one that produced tens of millions of dollars and two national football championships for the university and established him as a revered leader in sports, but one that will end with a stunning and humiliating final chapter.

Re: Penn State Officials Reportedly Planning Paterno's Exit

People seem to be focusing on Paterno's "humiliation". Instead, they should be questioning everything that he has ever said. As a huge Paterno fan, I feel like I have been deceived for decades. If he knew what McQueary says that he knew, he is evil. Regardless, if this many of the PSU administration knew, the program needs to be shut down. There has never been a better case for the use of the NCAA death penalty.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but this is too weird not to mention . . .

You know how the District Attorney refused, for reasons unknown, to prosecute Sandusky in 1998, even though they had Sandusky's defacto confession on wiretap?

Well, that DA's name was Ray Gricar. Go ahead, guess what happened to him.

It would be unconstitutional for a state school to have a religious affiliation...

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

In surfing through the PSU boards, its interesting to note there are more than few stating "wait until we get all the facts." I guess it didn't happen if its not on Youtube.

Re: Former Penn St. DC Jerry Sandusky arrested for numerous sexual assaults of minors

Now it seems the number of victims have doubled since the press conference on Monday... horrendous.

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/spor...n-penn-state-case-110811#.Trmygbao0Hx.twitter

This is even more unbelievable...

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Fox 29 has learned the number of child-abuse in the Penn State sex-abuse scandal involving ex-coach Jerry Sandusky has more than doubled in the past day, and is closer to 20 victims.

Slideshow: Joe Paterno Mobbed By Reporters

There were eight victims named in the grand jury presentment and 40 charges leveled against Sandusky, a long-time assistant to Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno. Paterno was not named in the grand jury finding as violating any laws.
