So...has anyone else seen this story? Mike McQueary, who Penn St. head-scratchingly retained after they cleaned house, will NOT coach this Saturday due to several death threats.

If it's proved true that Sandusky was pimping these kids out to prominent Boosters..Penn State Football should be shut down for a year or two..If this scandal runs that deep within the football program..A "Death Penalty" type punishment may be the only way to truly cleanse the evil within the athletic program..Sickening..Paterno & Penn St deserves what's about to hit them..

Dallas, I think you did a great job of putting into words the most difficult and heart-wrenching side of this story. It has kept me from sleeping all week. Had to be had to write.

Cindy I've been saying this from the moment the story hit. All the talk of legacy, chain of command, etc... is pure after fact. Why did this man not stop this? That is the question I would really like to see him faced with.

The part that just breaks my heart is the fact that while this child was being sodomized he saw someone walk in. He had to have thought at that moment the horror he was experiencing was about to stop. Someone was about to come to his rescue and stop this monster from hurting him any further. He was about to get away and the silence of what he was going through was about to be broken. Then imagine what he must have felt as he saw the potential savior turn and walk away without stopping the attack. You would have to feel at that moment that your life was completely worthless for someone not to help you. The thought of that absolutely breaks my heart and brings tears to my eyes.

Something that really baffles me about Paterno..Had one of these kids been a grandchild of his..Would he have handled this the same way he did back in '98???..It ticks me off to no end when I think about the kids that were abused after the way Paterno handled this..There's no amount of money, power, that would make me turn a blind to abuse of kids..You just don't do that to kids..

I may be wrong, but I have the feeling that they're going to suffer something close to the DP anyway. I wonder how many of their recruits they can retain. For that matter, how will the present players respond the rest of the season?

You bring up a good point Earle..How will the Players & Recruits react to all this..Loyalty only runs so deep..If it came down to my love of Bama Football or the well being of kids..There's nothing to consider..Protecting kids trumps everything..And yeah I imagine recruiting at Penn St will take a major hit..I wouldn't want my kid play or attend Penn St after this came out..

I hear you. I've started several times to move these threads to NonSports. However, I don't think it's possible to keep the topics off the FB board, when there's something new breaking on it every day...

Especially when both recruits and active players start wondering how much of their scholarship is paid for through these type of violations on young children.

While talking about him, I just saw this tweet. Interesting.

I heard an official from Nebraska say that many of the parents no longer feel comfortable bringing their children to PSU, whether for a football game or any other function. I'm not sure how many of the players feel the same way.

I'll go way out on a limb here and say that PSU ticket sales are about to take a big hit.

Thank you Staci for making the point I was attempting to make without much success. Thank you also for answering some questions I never thought I would have and wish I didn't have. There is no understanding this, but your professional point of view is very helpful. What makes someone like this become so cavalier in these acts? It seems he was being very open taking the boys to open locker rooms instead of the dungeon you would imagine someone would do this type of thing in so no one could catch them. Is it from not being caught or from continually getting away with it or what?

Most pedophiles become emboldened the longer they go undetected or unpunished. On a subconscious level, they want to be punished, so they gradually push the envelope further and further, taking more and more chances, until finally they get busted once and for all. Even pedophiles who prefer to do their deeds in the utmost privacy will eventually find a way to bring attention to themselves.

Ah, I didn't see that, I haven't visited the other thread as much. It sort of explains the lack of response he had in 2002.

Someone mentioned to me the other day, in passing - I wonder if McQueary had ever been a victim of Sandusky's?

Might explain his lack of action when he saw them in the shower...

This was my first thought when I heard he had been in school with Sandusky's son.

I have to admit I thought the same thing. You wonder if that were the case could his shame, not warranted and not of his own making, could have led him to not push for this to come out. One also has to wonder how close the families were. This is all so incomprehensible.
