“He said he wanted to respect his friends … and fans,†Jean Claude Kouandjio, the player's father, told Tidesports.com. "He wanted to respect the advice of his friends, people who admire him. That's what he wanted to do."
The response is already pouring in via Cyrus Kouandjio's phone.
"The text messages he received from his friends, people who admire him, it's overwhelming," the father said. "They want him to go (to) Alabama. He wants to respect those people.â€Â
Unlike Wednesday, when Cyrus Kouandjio announced plans to sign with Auburn and then had second thoughts, this time it's over.
"It's final. He's signed and faxed," Jean Claude Kouandjio said. "I just want you to know … it's a done deal. He told me he decided. He signed and faxed it, to stop all the pressure and all.
