Just a guess on your part?

If that's true then I feel better. I can't for the life of me figure out if a visit this late helps or not. Do we know if he has ever even been to Auburn? Has all their recruiting been over the phone and/or in MD? I'm sure he's been to Tuscaloosa several times and knows his comfort level there. If he was truly considering Auburn wouldn't he have made it there before now? I mean this is one of the biggest decisions of his young life, and he'll have 3-4 days to make it after leaving. Then again I guess you could turn it around and say a visit to AU could be just for confirmation. I don't know.

I keep hoping for the headline "Cyrus cancels his Auburn visit".
CK, IMO, seems to be a very level headed young man, trying to make the best decision for himself. With that said, I personally find it extremely hard to believe, that a kid (and i do realize he is a 17 yr. old young man, under alot of pressure), that was so high on BAMA last year, that he talked his brother into going with us, that he ends up anywhere else. Again, I know he is 17, but i still hope and believe he ROLLS with the TIDE!

It is just a guess, but if my other son was that close, why wouldn't you?

That's what I was thinking when I read that a while ago. You just spent a lot of time getting down here, you wouldn't drive an hour or so across the state to see your other son? This I believe helps Bama, if some members of the team, not necessarily coaches, pulled on him a little to get to come to the Capstone while there.

If Cyrus did go see Arie, would AU have to pay for gas and those expenses since it's an OV? If so, that'd be hilarious IMO.
No, once he leaves campus or a car ride to the airport, AU's $ is officially spent. (insert jokes)

Hopefully, the Kouandjio's rent a car for a few extra hours.

Yep, I hope so. I would assume Auburn paid for him/them to fly. I don't know how the $$$ part works for parents, but I would assume at least one parent would join him on this trip (if he's truly interested) regardless of who pays. Then again, maybe not. I would think Auburn would be crafty enough to have him fly into ATL instead of any airport in AL (i.e. making it very difficult for any extra travel before school starts back on Monday). Hope they're crafty and interested enough themselves to swing by Tuscaloosa regardless.

Bama and New Mexico will visit Cyrus tonight at his house.
Hmmm, Saban spoke at an Alabama Football Coaches Association meeting in Montgomery last night. Unless he flew to MD after the engagement looks like maybe this didn't happen after all. Have you heard any more about it?

Lunginbill just explained why he thinks cyrus will pick auburn. He seems to have based it on all the interview a few months back when cyrus said he wasn't afraid to shock the world with his pick. In the interview he clearly meant by picking NM or Iowa and i dont even think auburn was a finalist at that point. TL then said that he's not going to NM or Iowa and that Aub would be the shocker, since he's considered a bama lean. so in other words TL decided to take a guess and chose to pick he upset and had no real reason or info to pick auburn. Its all based on truthiness essentially. Cyrus also, has said nothing bad about playing with his brother and competing with him, in all his interviews he seems to value playing with him and also seems to dig competition.

luginbill just said on JOX that some "handler" of Cyrus said that he would shock the world come signing day, and he said "the only way that happens if he chooses auburn, which i think he will cause everyone thinks he's a bama lock and he won't choose new mexico or iowa, so it's got to be auburn, so that's where i say he's going"........you got to be kidding me!!! this guy gets paid all that money to be a "recruiting expert" and this is what he comes up with???

It was actually a reference to when his "handler" said he wasnt afraid to shock the world, not that he would

Oh, I know. I guess I'm just doing the math. Speak at 7 or 8:00 or so then fly to MD which is about an hour and twenty or so flight (and losing an hour since MD is on eastern time). You're looking at least 10:00-10:30 arrival and that's on the early side. Since no one has heard boo of the visit I'm thinking it didn't happen. I don't know when dead period is, but I'm hoping a meeting can happen after the Auburn visit.

Oh no, not the shock the world comment. Not again.

Actually if it falls in line with all the other shock the world's he'll be in crimson. It seems lately whenever a recruit says that he comes back around to the obvious choice.

Whenever I hear of statements like, "Im not afraid to shock the world", it usually points to that recruit going exactly where expected. It is the most tired cliche in recruiting. Think about all the times that has happened this year.

TIDEnGA beat me to it :)

Actually, Luginbill did state that Kouandjio's coach said that he would "shock the world". The JOX guys repeated it a few times in discussion taking the "shock" comment would be to anywhere but Alabama (like AU or Iowa). That being said, Luginbill could have botched the quote if what you are saying is accurate though. I don't know your resources.

Bottom line, I am not reading too much into this quote whichever way it goes. It could go either way.

Just like Ray Drew shocked the world. And I know Cyrus has to do what's best for him, and not Alabama, but in that case Iowa is a far better place to land than Auburn.

I was listening to JOX this morn and they were talking to some of the recruiting "insiders". Now, let me qualify that what I am about to bring up was being talked about with the Auburn "insider". It seems, though, that Cyrus may really be struggling with the idea of battling his brother for playing time at the same position. It could mean a position change for one or the other if both make the rotation. What say ye?
I am not very computer savvy or I would post a link, but I remembered this article from a little while back: "Kouandjio visits 'Bama, brother" by Mike Farrell on Yahoo!Sports. It's from December 6, 2010. In it Cyrus is quoted as saying, "My main question was how they would handle us since we are both offensive linemen and could be competing at tackle. Their answer was good and I felt they were honest. They told me that Arie and I are different players and it's like comparing apples to oranges. He's more of a right tackle/right guard type and I'm more of a left tackle type, longer, athletic. They said we wouldn't be competing on the same side of the line so that was good."

Well, they battled each other for playing time in high school. It's not as if it's a foreign idea to either, and they've never played together. Regardless, as was stated on his official visit, they'll be playing different positions.
