Kellen Williams, an offensive lineman out of Snellville, Georgia, just received an offer from the Crimson Tide. As of now, he sports offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, and Florida State. Apparently the ol' Nicktator just got some more tape on him, and was sufficiently impressed.

At the very least, he has a great frame on him. He is listed as 6'5 and 288 pounds by Scout.com, and 6'5 and 298 pounds by Rivals. Both have not rated him yet, but given his growing offer list, you have to imagine he will be rated pretty highly once the gurus get off their butts.

Apparently we led for his services anyway, and he was apparently just about speechless when Saban called him with the offer. It sounds like he could be making a decision very soon. I'd have to say we are his big leader at the moment.

Re: OT Kellen Williams Update

He lives in my home town so I've had the pleasure of watching him play for years. I can tell you that KW has been well coached and really knows how to play the game.

Brookwood HS has a long history of winning and parents of talented kids have been known to move to the district just to have their kids play for them. UGA loves to recruit here so it would be nice (for me) to see him playing for the Tide.

A while back his name came up in another post so I asked some of the "fanatics" around here and the word is that he is not all that interested in UGA and was very excited about the interest that CNS has shown in him.

I don't understand his "ranking" either but this kid has good size and quickness. He has been flying under the radar of late but I think that is about to change.

It certainly looks like he could be the next commitment. He is really excited about the Bama offer. He said he should have a decision in a couple of weeks. He has other offers from Florida State, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.

** OL Kellen Williams Commits To Alabama **

According to BOL, Kellen Williams has committed to Alabama. You can click here for the subscription article, but you already know the major news.

Though it's no big surprise, it's nevertheless a pretty big pick-up for the Tide. He obviously was thrilled at getting the offer from Saban, and wasted no time seizing the opportunity. You have to absolutely love the kid's size, and given his offer list -- Alabama, Florida State, etc. -- you would have to think he's a good prospect.

If you go to his Rivals profile, he has a video up that you can watch. The kid is an absolute mauler in the running game. He's strong and fires off the ball with the pads low, it's highly impressive stuff. He said a couple of days ago that Saban offered after he saw a second video on him, one that featured more pass blocking plays. Apparently he is pretty dang impressive as a pass blocker too, because he impressed Saban enough.

Scout.com is now reporting this too. I suppose now those two will have to get off their butts and actually evaluate the kid. I'll make a not-so-bold prediction: Rivals will have him as a four star, and Scout.com will have him as a three star.

Anyway, according to Williams, it was a lifelong dream to play at Alabama, and he says he does not plan on taking any other visits.

Welcome aboard Mr. Williams!

P.S. And Lafella, you can pipe down now!

Love the way he blows the defender off the line. Stays with his block. Can get into the secondary and pick off a LB. Looks like a Saban-type bulldozer.

Do the resident gurus see him as a OG or OT?

How many OL do you think we'll look to sign for the '09 class?

Wow! I guess what I have been hearing was right on but I never expected him to pull the trigger that fast.

You gotta love it. This young man is all business, he knows what he wants, no indecision at all. Whether he is a role player or a superstar, that is exactly the attitude that any winning program needs.

Roll Tide Kellen!...Welcome.

Nice pick up!!

You've also got to like the fact that he was offered by Wake and Vandy - I don't think qualifying will be an issue with Mr Williams!

Williams is a longtime fan of both Alabama and Georgia.

“I grew up a fan of Georgia,” he said. “And I went to an Alabama game when I was a little kid and became a fan of that program. So, I’ve got a thing for Alabama.
Glad to see this one pull the trigger! :pDT_gun:
