Ok, I know officials are human beings…allegedly. I know they make mistakes…but Kirby Smart MUST be punished by the SEC somehow. He lied to the officials about the timeout, full stop. We have irrefutable evidence on camera. Sankey needs to fine Kirby and suspend him for the next game. This kind of thing simply cannot be allowed to happen.

This entire clip is nauseating. Listen to these layup questions. Why didn’t they just ask Kirby to talk about “how great you are” for 15 minutes? Talk about a lap dog media. And noticed no asked that question until 13 minutes into the presser. The fumble and his “no timeout” were to of the biggest controversies in the game. And it takes someone over ten minutes to ask him about it?

Now Kirby’s “spin” is the Auburn defense was clapping (disconcerting signals - which we know they do. They did it to us on several occasions down there in 2023) and he was trying to “tell the officials they are clapping, not signaling timeout”. What a bunch of BS.

Anything above .30 is considered alcohol poisoning and can be lethal. Although I have seen a BAC above .40 come into detox that was “walking and talking”.

He's right, it is a penalty is the defense is clapping in an effort to draw the offense into a false start.
That said, If a coach's finger tips touch his pam on the other hand (which they did here), that coach is signalling for a timeout.

Certainly. But it was absolutely clear Bowl Cut signaled for a timeout and “conveniently” right as the play clock was about to hit zero. If you buy any of what Kirby is trying to sell, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale too.

Chris Doering on SEC Network post game show had a great take on the fumble/touchdown scenario. Paraphrasing…you wanna blame the refs? How bout you don’t leave it up to the refs? You had 40 yards of offense in the second half. Missed opportunities. It was a fairly lengthy take but he was spot on. You’d have thought he played for Saban with the take he had on it.

I don't often feel bad for the barn.

But when I do it is because the refs screwed them.

What a horribly officiated game. Seriously, I don't remember the last time I felt bad for them. They had the dogs by the throat and the refs pulled their hands away from UGA's neck.

Slimeball Kirby steals one on the plains.

Never seen a coach call a timeout and then immediately convince the refs he didn't and actually get the timeout back. All while avoiding the delay of game that prompted him to call the thing in the first place. He cheated on live TV for all to see.

The two worst officiated games of any kind I've ever seen were Game 7 of the Western Conference finals in 2002 (Sacramento Kings vs LA Lakers), but we later learned the referee was corrupt. The other was the 2022 Alabama-Tennessee game. It's not "why" we lost (not solely anyway), but it was pathetic. And I have post after post on this board pointing out you don't blame officials when you lose (99.9% of the time anyway) because your own team missed blocks, tackles, catches, holes for the runner, and (the Nussmeier-O'Brien Act) did some horrible playcalling. Rarely is there time for a team to NOT overcome the bad call.

But I'll admit the calls I saw last night were pretty bad, too. Still, I'll laugh at them like they did when they walked away with the 2019 Iron Bowl.

To be fair, both have elements of truth.

I know one of the more famous in our history is the 1983 Penn State game (played 42 years ago this past week). Preston Gothard DID catch the ball, we DID get hosed by a Penn State official, conveniently similar to how Nebraska had been on the receiving end of a call that may have cost them the national championship the previous year.

On the other hand, the officials weren't the ones who entered the fourth quarter trailing 34-7, either.

The game was delayed by weather so I was fighting falling asleep the whole time!

Crazy game with a great ending. BYU is now 6-0!

By my calculations all things holding except the fumble. Auburn would still have lost by a field goal.

In the review era, the officials have been coached to signal fumble and let review make the correct call. So they did that. Review didnt see enough evidence to overturn the call. Which I agree with. The UGA punches the football as it's crossing the plane even though it's still under Arnold's arm but he is not possessing the football through the plane.

The better rule for the officials should be possession maintained by the offense unless review shows otherwise.

I saw two in Wyoming, one of .42 and one of .51 who were walking like normal folks.
I was on the Wind River reservation.

Keith Whitley, the country singer, had one of .47 when he died.
