I admit Ole Miss finished strong, but this sports writer is drinking some major kool-aid. Not only does he think Ole Miss should be crowned national champions, but that they would beat any previous years national champs. Wow, I can't even form thoughts about this. I'm so astonished someone would be this ignorant, or high.

I think the Rebels are as good, right now, if not better, than the 1992 Alabama national title team, the 2003 LSU title team and the 1980 Georgia national title team.

The only real team that Ole Miss probably would have lost to from the recent SEC national title teams was the 1996 Florida bunch. As good and fast as Ole Miss is, that Gator team had great lines, great backs, great wideouts, a great quarterback and a ton of speed everywhere. Plus, that’s when the Ol’ Ball Coach was in his prime and not very many beat him back then.

Everyone thinks they should be NC's now days. Don't win your conference but you should be NC. Don't win your division but you should be NC. 2nd in the West but best in the Country? Haha, idiot.

They played a good game against Texas Tech, soooooo they should be named National Champions, yeah right. He also said Ole Miss just beat the team that beat OU. Wrong, the Texas Longhorns were the only team to do that....John Davis = idiot.

Nothing to get alarmed about, this guy obviously suffers from a malady which is quite common in the southeastern portion of the United States and in some cases, outside the southeast. It's a condition that's particularly prevalent during football season, although it's subject to crop up at any time, especially when the subject of CFB arises. It doesn't seem to matter if it's in person, on message boards, or in the media, both print and electronic. It's called Bama Envy.

Mr. Davis seems to have a terminal case of it, but that's understandable since he resides in Oxford, Miss. which is the home of a CFB team that competes in the SEC. It has reached epidemic status there, as it also has in Baton Rouge, La., Starkville, Miss., Fayetteville, Ark., allbarn, Al., Gainsville, Fl., Athens, Ga. and Knoxville, Tenn. It also affects the populations of Columbia, S.C., Lexington, Ky. and Nashville, Tenn., but not to the degree as evidenced in the other previously listed locations. It is believed that this is because the ability to accept reality lessens the severity of the disease and the populus of these 3 locations have long ago accepted their lot and status in the SEC, therefore their cases are relatively mild compared to the rest of the SEC towns/cities.

WARNING: Those affected with this disease should NEVER visit the Bryant Museum or the trophy cases of The University of Alabama as this seems to trigger reactions that completely transforms their brains into big gobs (small gobs in Knoxville and allbarn) of mush, totally incapable of rational thought. :BigA::BigA::BigA:

I disagree with this gentleman. I think the NC should go to Tennessee. Here's how.

Part of his argument is that Ole Miss beat Florida. Well.....

South Carolina beat Ole Miss.
Iowa beat South Carolina, so they're better than USC.
Iowa lost to a better team in Pitt....
Who was bested by the stunning Bowling Green team...
Who were obviously worse than Eastern Michigan....
But Eastern Michigan fell to Northern Illinois, thus they are the lesser team
And NIU was obviously below Tennessee as their matchup showed.

So, there you have it. Tennessee (never mind that they lost to Florida) is your MNC for 2008!

Strangely, Philip Fulmer's schedule is open if anyone wants to invite him to the trophy presentation....

Some of the locals--both Rebs & others--say that the Rebs are playing as well as most anyone in the country right now. That's as far as I've heard them go, and after going to the Cotton Bowl, I'll grant them that. But NC? We need the John McEnroe clip here: "You cannot be serious!!" ;)
