Weird News: Pelosi: 500 million Americans will lose jobs...?

Pelosi publicly stated that "every month that we do not have an economic recovery package 500 million Americans lose their jobs."


I know Obama is preaching doom and gloom and catastrophe and all, but this is getting ridiculous.

Still, she was selected by Obama to write a stimulous plan.

Its hard to say how bad this mess could get. What I see in congress now is no different from what I have seen for years. The dems get a wild hair . . . , the reps keep them from driving off a cliff. Maybe after awhile a compromise can be worked out with an effective stimulus package with no pork, maybe pigs will fly. But it is interesting to finally see the reps return to fiscal conservatism, about time.

Yeah, seems to take a Democrat in the WH to make that happen. It's too bad that there isn't a party that has demonstrated the ability to apply fiscal conservatism as a perpetual core philosophy.

Do I think the Republicans have learned from the last eight years, and will be more fiscally conservative next time (if there is again a time) that they control the WH and both houses of Congress? Not a chance. Those in power like to eat the pork, regardless of party.

And other things besides. Last year I had to have therapy for my knee. I referred to the "place" as Gitmo. Not a one of the young people working there as therapists had a clue what I was talking about - not even when I explained it to them!!! :eek2:
