Hello Bama fans.

I will be making the trip down to Tuscaloosa from State College this week with a nice size group of PSU fans.

We were wondering where the best places to tailgate wer ethat were walkable to the game. We read about the Quad, but we will not be in town early enough to drop our stuff off on friday night.

I ave read about the soccer fields and other lots as well. What and where do you recommend? We would like to be able to be quite rowdy and fun. Are there restrictions with grills? Beer bottles?

Looking forward to a great weekend regardless of the final score.

Thanks.

Look I'll give it to you straight. There are no good places to eat, tailgate, drink or for that matter even come close to having a good time down here.

Sooo, I'll do you a BIG FAVOR and just take those tickets off your hands. OK?

You can thank me later. :biggrin2:

( Or, check out the Game Day link, upper right of screen.)

Third row? You won't have much of a view unfortunately (if you're on the sidelines). If you're in the endzones, you'll have a good view.

As for tailgating, follow the GameDay dropdown menu in the top toolbar to UA Gameday and you'll find all sorts of good info.

People do park and tailgate at the grass soccer lot. I recommend being there at least 4 hours prior to kickoff if you want to be assured of a spot. The Crimson Ride shuttle will easily take you back and forth to The Quad/Bryant-Denny stadium area.

You can also use our Search function in the above toolbar to search the football forums for other threads on this topic (what to do/see in Tuscaloosa, etc.).

I hope y'all thoroughly enjoy your time in Tuscaloosa. In general, we are a hospitable bunch and we love visiting fans to enjoy all our beautiful campus has to offer (except victory, of course).

The Soccer Field would be fine for tailgating with grills and such. Definitely go down and visit the Quad. Lots to see, great tailgating and atmosphere but you have to reserve a spot ahead of time (very pricey) to tailgate on the quad. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about the Quad.

There are some first come first serve spots for tailgating on the quad. But the best spots are usually taken by game day because most people set there tents up on Friday evenings to reserve there spots. But definitely come to the quad it is the best place to be for gamd day excitement and activities. Not to mention ESPN Game day being in T-Town for the game!!!

This thread is indicative as to one of many reasons I am a BAMA fan. I have lived in Tutorsee all my life but even as a young foolish lad, I observed the classy way BAMA fans treated opponent's fans.

Can't say enough about that and to all BAMA fans, carry on the tradition even if the other side is being ugly. It's our confidence in our team and as a fan base that makes us family!

Roll Tide Roll!!!:BigA:

We'll be in the Motor Home lot behind Bruno's off McFarland Blvd. It's not within walking distance of the stadium but will be filled with lots of Bama fans who also want to have a good time. If you're in as early as Thurs come on by. We love Penn St. and would welcome you stopping by. Have fun in T-Town!:)

There are some places to tailgate just off the quad if you get there early Sat. Morning. In front of the Gorgas House, Woods Quad, and the concourse between the quad and the Ferg. You can pretty much pop up a tent on any grassy patch you can find. The only restriction concerns power usage on the quad and shouldn't affect you guys.

My advise...get there early and bring plenty of beer. You will definately want to hang on the quad immediately prior to heading to BDS. Should be a zoo! Gameday will be set up outside the north end zone.

Have a safe trip down. You're gonna love The Capstone on gameday.

My friends and I have already started planning a road trip to Beaver Staduim next year by way of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

The Moody Music building courtyard. Most people don't know about it and it doesn't tend to get crowded. It is walking distance to the Quad, and stadium it is also RIGHT next door to the Paul Bryant Musuem, which I would suggest any college football fan should visit. You can also hear or even go see the Million Dollar Band's morning practice, they welcome visitors and the Director is a Pittsburgh native.

If you get there early enough you can also see the Tide football team and coaching staff make their morning walk from the football complex to the stadium.

Hope you enjoy the trip and the facilities, forgive me if i hope you hate the game. There are a lot of great places to eat and drink and come gameday there are few better atmospheres than Tuscaloosa.

Also if you decide to eat in the stadium, i suggest you ignore anything that isnt the "stadium dog" its overpriced but so is everything. Don't fall for the footlong, its rather generic.

Til' now. You just gave it exposure. Be careful what you promote. In the immortal words of John Henley, "Call some place paradise , kiss it goodbye.";)
I know I just figured since I don't get to be on campus as much for games, I might as well pass it on to others and ruin it for those who have followed behind me.:)

Hey everyone.

Is the quad area free to tailgate on? Also will the soccer fields have lots of people tailgating on it or will it be mainly just a parking area?

We are known for a great tailgate as we are all PSU Blue Band alumni, so we bring our instruments and make a great atmosphere that you all would love to see and experience.

Can an RV park on the soccer fields?

Thanks for all the support and replies so far!

See you all Saturday

There is a portion of the quad that is reserved tailgating but the vast majority is free - first-come, first-serve. I believe there is a map on UA Gameday showing the specific areas where you can tailgate, but unfortunately that website is blocked at my work so I can't link directly to it.

I heard from a friend at UA that folks from Penn State have numerous planes chartered into TCL and many bus loads of them coming too. There is going to be a ton of Navy and White in campus this weekend.

Tailgating on the quad is free (there are some reserved tents, but the rest of the western side of the quad is first-come-first-served). You would want to claim your space Friday night.

There will be plenty of folks who tailgate on the soccer lot. RVs are not allowed on the soccer lot.

Go to the uagameday.com site and see rules/restrictions/guidelines for all your questions.
