Per BOL: Lance Thompson on the Way Back to Alabama

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Those of you calling into question the man's character, remember to ask yourself: do I have first hand, eyewitness knowledge of what happened, or am basing it on what someone else told me or what was reported? In other words, do I have ALL the facts? If not, you may be guilty of thinking and/or spreading things that are not even true.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm confident that LT will do a good job for us and that Nick will accept nothing less.

But, even if given tons of leeway and little oversight, you still answer to the one who signs your checks.

So I guess considering the revenue that 2 trips to the SECCG, 1 SEC Championship, 3 BCS Bowl appearances and 2 BCS National Championships brings in you're saying Mal and Dr. Witt answer to CNS? :)

J/K! I know what you're saying and I could see a call maybe keeping someone off the staff. But I believe the day we give back into the GOB system running the program is the day we go back to mediocrity. There are few coaches out there who can control the PTB and CNS is one of them.

I believe CNS has worked with Thompson a couple of times over the years. He is in the best position to know if he is a good fit. Evidently, Thompson must have done a good job or he would not be welcomed back. It is funny that while driving to N.O. before the BCS game some sports guy at 690 AM in N.O. was talking about the difference between LSU and Alabama fans. He said LSU fans questioned Saban even when he was successful, but in Alabama the culture is to be in locked step agreement. They must not ever visit this site.

Count me in the "locked step agreement" crowd :D

I have my doubts and they're not based on hearsay. OTOH, I understand that he's cleaned up his personal life. This wasn't an easy decision for CNS. It goes back further back than the CSS announcement...

Has this been reported as official by the university or are we still speculating based on BOL article and others?

University offices are closed in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday. I don't expect anything official until later this week. But there are enough credentialed media types citing their own sources to conclude that the only thing left is the press release.

Let me count how many times you've been wrong.....let's see...I'm still thinking, give me a minute....nope. Got nothin'.

A safe hire & good recruiter. However, I was hoping for a new face with a great resume and some fire in his belly. We get LT part 3.

Maybe UT's reach to hire Sunseri's as their DC caught Saban by surprise and he was forced to scramble to fill the vacancy?

No, this (a defensive opening) has been coming for some time. As I indicated above, this was not a decision reached in a hurry. CNS is rarely surprised and he never "scrambles." CSS was our best recruiter and CLT fills that void. I think there will be a position realignment...

I personally am not real happy with this hire. I just didn't care for his behavior the last time he was here. I have heard he was asked to leave and he this really caught me off guard. It worries me that if he takes his morals lightly, he'll could take shortcuts in recruiting.

Oh good grief...

"I heard..."

I'm just a fan so what do I KNOW?
In Saban I Trust, if it don't work out he will be Gone.
I'm sure Kirby had input. CNS is real good about Doing the Right Thing.

I agree. I got to quit reading this thread but the laughs are hard to stay away from. Bottom line coaching is a business. If CNS wants him on staff then thats fine. His personal life is NONE of my business. The product he puts on the field is what I go to see. So if he puts a good product on the field welcome back LT.
