Perhaps we fans could do a better job.

As many threads begin, this is not directed at any individual or as a flame or anything of the sort. I know reading that usually prepares you for reading a flame, but not this time!!

Now, I can't speak for all of you but I can certainly speak for myself, what I've seen on TV, what I've seen at games, and what some have posted on this forum.

It is no secret that attendence for some(maybe most??) of our home games has been less than stellar. For myself, I watch the games, get disgusted and don't put much thought in going to a game for the remainder of the season. Judging by some posts I've seen here, you sympathize with these feelings.

That being said, I think most of us who watch college BBall know how big an advantage home court can be. Our advantage has just about been severed for this season. Let's try to think like the players. Going out on your home floor with little support cannot get you too excited about the game. I can't imagine it helping one bit.

So, as fans (myself included), we should/could do a better job of standing behind our team to let them know that someone cares if they win, in fact we want them to win. Don't pepper me with the "it's not football" stuff, because I understand that. However, these kids wanted to play for Bama just like every football player we have, and we should support them all the same.

So Roll Tide no matter how good or bad this season ends.

I went to a HS girls basketball game that was louder than any of the bama games I've seen. I live in South Carolina or I'd make it up to the games and do something myself. We gots to support guys and girls! LET EM KNOW YOU'RE THERE!!!! win, lose, tie, or draw!

In all honesty basketball will always play second fiddle to football in the state of Alabama. (Unless your one of the five UAB fans and basketball is the only thing you can desperately cling onto) The first round exit in the NCAA tourney and the early departure of KW left a bad taste in the mouth of most fans from last year. Add to the fact that our football team had a breakout 10 win season why the basketball team struggled from day one and you can see why attendance is low. CMS is also pulling together a top ten recruiting class that garners more interest than a 7-4 inconsistent basketball team. I for one have attended more than half the games this year but do not criticize any one who does not want to spend their hard earned money going to a game. The bottom line is that everybody loves a winner. Unfortunately this is something that to this point in the season we are not. To get big draws and a great atmosphere this team will have to pull together and put up a string of W's to get the "common" fan into Coleman. Something that could be achieved by a good showing in confrence play. Starting today with a win over the Rebels!

If I lived closer and/or had the monetary resources (to pay for gas, food, tickets, etc) I would go to more basketball games. It is hard to go to a weeknight game and then have to work the next day. So that limits my trips to T-Town. I know that there are some Bama folks where I live that are in the same boat. I just wonder how many more there are in this same situation. My heart is all there but physically just cannot get there.

Perhaps if we had an offense that wasn't predicated on shooting lights out from the field to win? Even when we were winning last year, I couldn't stand to watch us play...if we weren't shooting white-hot, we lose...period. The high post offense is borderline retarded. Why is the 4-man just standing there at the top of the key...for a screen...naw...who knows!? Our great defensive efforts are more of just the other team shooting poorly than a defensive effort. How many times must Gottfried watch teams bomb us from deep to decide to teach how to defend the 3-ball?

I hate to vent...but that is practically why I don't go to games anymore...sorry ya'll had to hear it!

I agree completely. Even when we win it is hard to watch us play. The offense we run under CMG makes me want to bash my head against the wall. We recruit very good athletes and then run an offense designed for standing around. I can handle the offense when we play hard on defense and hit the boards, but when we show no heart in those areas it pains me to watch. I wish I didn't care so much so I could just turn it off, but I'll keep watching and yelling Roll Tide. Hopefully, we'll figure things out before it's too late- if it isn't already. I am afraid we aren't even going to make the NIT. Play hard guys! Roll Tide!
