Photo thread - Part III

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Posted on social media. One of my high school classmates - class of '72! She has a twin sister and they both have surfed since I've known them. Their Dad worked at a Chevy/GM dealership here and I got my first car from him, while a senior in high school. She and her family live in Daytona. What a great photo!

Finally got around to adding (3 silk prints on the right) to the Thailand section of the Asia wall. The adding is not as much of a chore as rearranging everything else previously on the wall to get the spacing respectable.

Looks beautiful, @Bodhisattva - thanks for sharing!

It's amazing how many framed pieces I find curbside being tossed out. I don't necessarily rummage through anyone's trash - but if I see something stacked up along side of it - I will stop and take a look.

Here's one I found 4 years ago and have it hanging up in my hallway:

Wow! Those are some awesome finds. If that van Gogh is an original, I'll give you $20 for it.

It's amazing what people throw out here. There's a community FB page that is primarily for discarded items available for curbside pick-up to whoever wants it. I'll see such a post once or twice a week. All manner of kid's items (toys, clothes, bicycles), furniture, tools, grills, smokers, lawnmowers ... practically anything, and all in perfectly good shape. Lan is always on the lookout for pottery and vases. One could have a nice side hustle by cruising the hood and gathering up discarded items for resale. That may be part of the retirement plan.

I've seen those but since I don't spend as much time online - in particular on those platforms by the time I would see those....anything decent would already be gone. Because of what you said - people who make a living off re-selling items they pick up for free or little cost.

The method that works best for me is just to be aware while traveling the local roads. I drive a work truck with an 8' bed most days so plenty of space to carry things. But even while driving the Volvo wagon......lots of space to carry things too.

To be honest, I already have too much "stuff" here and am on a mission to downsize. 🤷‍♂️

A rare quiet moment in Central London. Taken back in June looking down Upper St. Martin’s Lane towards Trafalgar Square. The church steeple in the background is St. Martin’s in the Fields, which is situated right next to the hotel my wife and I were staying at. We’d just left breakfast at Dishoom, headed back to our hotel to grab our bags for the flight back to Orlando.
