I know money talks but a reputable "top level" coach willing to come to the Barn under these publicly known circumstances? Having some trouble buying into that.
Yeah, anybody that stupid, well, come to think of it, go ahead and bring him in...

To make the change for that kind of coach (which I doubt would be interested in that dumpster fire of a program) would cost around $100M+ considering the buyout of Gus and his assistants AND the new coach and his staff.

Yep...........I bet the agents are burning the phones up.............but he might hold out for the USC job and the glamour of the West Coast or waiting to see if Urban is out.............
Best that way. If anyone in an official capacity with the university talks with another coach while Gustav is still the coach then they'll be stuck with Malzahn for 10 years a la "Tubby and Jetgate".

Boy would that ever be sweet!

They call Bama that to make it sound like a satellite school, such as UAB or UAH.

Like I said, they're idiots. Heck, the L8U corndog thing was started by an auburn fan who simply stole it from ISU fans talking about Iowa (no link due to profanity, but I have the original link).

These AU fans are so stupid they can't even make up a sensible burn about a rival - they have to steal someone else's idea (that doesn't even fit)...

Again, idiots.
The most pitiful part of that is that UAH & UAB are both far superior schools to API. 😂😂😂😂

Bob Stoops to Auburn makes literally zero sense. Going to from Oklahoma, to Auburn, is so utterly absurd it is boarding on Bill Curry leaving Alabama for Kentucky. But then we are talking about Bill Curry, who couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Stoops is a legend at a blue blood school.

No, I don't believe it for a second.

I also don't believe Auburn has the money for this. Which means, of course, they aren't going to pay it. There is some catch, some gotcha, in that contract. It might be that Gus gives up his buyout if he takes another job, and they think he won't sit at home and just draw the paycheck. And knowing Gus, he wouldn't. Not that I know Gus.

All I can say is, have fun. It was utterly moronic to sign him to that contract anyway. I'm supposed to the believe the same bunch that has bungled around with folks like Chizik and Gus are going to hit a home run now? Nah.

An Auburn fan??? Insane????
Wait...isn’t that the definition of insanity?[emoji16]
Well, I've made it clear that I think those on ITAT are insane. Or idiots. Or both.

But we have our own resident AU fan who is as rational and level-headed as anyone I know, so can't paint with too broad a brush...

Remember the movie, "Brewster's Millions," where Richard Pryor has to spend $30 million in 30 days but accumulate no assets?

Nowadays, all he'd have to do is pay a coaching buyout, and he'd win his big bucks from grand daddy.

I love all the wild speculation but Gus is not going anywhere for at least another year. Too much money in his contract I don't care what anyone is saying.

So if you’re a 2019/20 recruit and Auburn is on your “short list” right now, what are you thinking?
This time last year, there was talk Gus was heading to Arkansas, then followed with a long term commitment of a 7 year $49 million from Auburn. Yep..we are committed to Gus...we believe in Gus. In Gus we trust!
A year later rumors swirl that the “fambly” ain’t so committed and ready to can him?.
Auburn is already struggling to keep with Alabama, Georgia, TAMU and LSU in recruiting now. This certainly doesn’t make it any easier.

An interesting barner theory/conspiracy/fantasy I read today is that the barn and Gus (or his agents) are basically pimping Gus out to one of several open or opening positions along with a reduced settlement of the buy out. This is supposed to be a way to get rid of Gus while he saves face without being fired and saves the barn money.

If he's smart he holds out for all the money.............And I wonder what Stoops would accept that AU could afford?

In regards to the “incredible gap” he speaks of- there always has been and always will be. With an occasional blip in their success Auburn will never be in the same class as Alabama.
