Alabama’s playoff match-up won’t compare to the most important thing I’ll be concerned with tomorrow. My mother will be laid to rest on what would’ve been her 76th birthday after her unexpected passing this past Saturday.
“Have you called your mother today? I sure wish I could call mine.” Coach Bryant’s classic South Central Bell ad aired before my time by a few years, but it certainly takes on a deeper, personal meaning.
My mom (and dad) worked hard to save and make sure I had every chance at success as a first generation college graduate from The Capstone (in December 2005), and I could never begin to repay them for the love and support they’ve so constantly shown.
I’ll miss her indescribably, but I serve a risen Savior - as did she - and I have the promise of seeing her again.
May the Crimson Tide put together a lion’s effort and provide a little joy in what will otherwise be a very difficult day.
