There’s being in the zone and then there’s this…

I will admit that if this is unedited/undoctored (which is my impression) this is a pretty cool feat. It reminds me of some of the videos I've seen from Steph Curry hitting 90 foot shots from baseline to baseline.

But, perhaps I'm also a little cynical in that until JM can hit 10-20 yard passes accurately during a game then this doesn't matter one bit.

Agreed - but if it's real, it shows that he can make the throws, it's all between the ears.

no, not really, it shows he can make a throw with a lot of arc to a spot, even though it is pretty impressive that he hit the bar every singe time. That throw works if you have JAMO who can outrun everyone to a spot and outjump everyone once there if needed, but that's it. that throw isn't the same as throwing just about every other route on the route tree at all.

It's not without its merit and it probably explains why he's noted to be a decent deep passer.

Some of the routes we run are to a "spot" where we know the defense won't be.

But, it doesn't mean he can hit every throw...especially the throws he needs to make in traffic, which is the concern I have about him.

The deep ball, I get totally. The other 'spot' routes we run would still require way less arc and float on passes for them to be completed. A ball being in the air as long as the passes in this video gives the DBs way to much time to recover and close any gaps. Like you mentioned earlier, I'd like to see some 10-12 yard throws, accurate, with good velocity. I'd be way more impressed to see him throw it on a rope through an old tire from 10, 15, 20, 25 yards out. Wasn't it the "unofficial assistant" coaches who did the videos of Tua throwing and would yell "WINDOWS" all the time b/c he put it exactly where it needed to be? That's what we really need to start seeing...

Dude is a physical freak. If he could develop into just a serviceable passer he'd be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses.

Those are my thoughts.

It's such a weird time of year because we are looking for any morsel of information on the QB battle to the point we dissect brief video clips or run with small bits of information on practice reports.

I listened to a discussion of the Saturday open practice and one of the guys was saying that Milroe seems to still be in the lead but thinks Simpson will eventually pass him, but maybe not until the season has started. While they didn't come right out and say that neither has significantly improved since the spring, I found the reports to be a little discouraging. To me, for Milroe to be the starter then he needs to really improve as a passer since the spring, otherwise, Simpson (or potentially Buchner) would seem to be the choice. But if Milroe is still leading the pack without any real improvement with his passing, then that seems concerning.

With that said, I am way overthinking this with very little knowledge of the situation.

I mean, it’s clearly not real. Just watch the aTm game…
The atm game showed he couldn’t throw the ball accurately in that game. not that he couldn’t throw the ball far like in the commercial. But yeah it probably fake.
