I thought it interesting, how far Latin has slipped. Leo reads and writes, but doesn't speak it, once a requirement. The cardinal announcing his ascension erred. He should have said "habemus papam." Instead, he said "habemus papam-um," The "um" coming out as an afterthought. Most singular masculine Latin nouns do indeed end in "um." "Pope," "Papa" however, is irregular and forms the objective as "Papam." He wasn't sure of his grammar...

I sent my sister a typo: "habemus papum," and she responded, "we have a nipple?"

It's a little scary that the new pope declared he was going to be pope while in first grade...
Interesting. My nephew declared he would be a priest around the same age and twenty years later, he took his vows and joined the Jesuit order. He is easily one of the brightest and most intelligent people I have ever known.
