Potential final ranking prognostication

Again, losing has consequences (that's why we are behind OU and Georgia, currently...don't understand the ND thing admittedly).

But winning does too. No way after we (assuming) win 3 games we don't jump OU and ND and probably Georgia too.

If winning the SECCG doesn't get us a top 4 seed, like Snuffy said the whole thing will have to be blown up and start all over!

The things you guys are saying might be true if the FSU loss didn’t exist.

It’s so awful that by itself could cancel out h-t-h wins vs UGA and A&M. That and we are blocked by OU.

There is still a chance all three could take another loss though so it might not matter.

But if things stay ‘chalk’ I could see them leaving all 3 ahead of us even at 11-2 SEC Champs.

Personally I think every power 4 conference member should cancell all future games with Notre Dame. Their schedule is basically 2 tough games and 10 cupcakes, they are set up to make playoffs every year. Force them to join a conference or just play service academies and group of 5 teams.

I think that’s why USC is backing out, ND has more to gain playing them than USC does

So SOS doesn't matter.....SOR doesn't matter......because we don't run the ball well.

Goal posts keep moving because we have a subjective group of humans making decisions.
miami is getting so much credit for beating notre dame. this idiot committee is ignoring that they are tied for 5th in their own conference.

The SEC champ will be no worse than a top 4 seed. Most likely 2nd behind undefeated BIG 10 champ. No way SEC champion can not get a first round bye. That is why the reward out weighs the risk in playing that game.
This all day long… If the SEC champion is not in the top 4 seeds and/or the loser of the game is left out of the playoffs I can see this year being the last year the game is played.

As far as they dropped us after the OU loss, I have no interest in playing in the SECCG. If we lose that game there's no doubt they'd drop us out of the top 12.
I believe this is true as well. We must win out, whatever that means.

I agree the FSU loss is bad. But I disagree it outweighs all the good on our resume, to the point that now we are worse than ND. I’m fine with OU being ahead of us. They beat us, in BDs after all, and their losses are to good teams. Plus their overall schedule is tougher than ND.

Based upon the committee’s logic to this point I come to these conclusions:

The nine game SEC schedule, especially when coupled with the additional requirement of a power 4 non-con opponent, is a foolish endeavor. It needs to be scrapped post-haste, money benefits be damned.

There needs to be a scheduling ban against Notre Dame until they join a conference fully. This charade of Independence needs to end. It’s not 1977 anymore.

I'm getting there as well, but I'd rather have a shot to win the SEC because I don't think we win 4 games in the playoffs.

Getting to the playoffs vs a shot to win the SEC........I'd rather have the latter.

I do agree you guys about ND.

Even with the FSU loss we have the same record and have a much more difficult schedule and have 4 times the impressive wins.

There is no logical argument for ND to be ahead of Bama right now.

With that logic, the big 2 conference should be ruled out as well.

I'm confident if that happens, that will be the last SEC Championship Game ever played
Either that or you will see a hard press for a truly expanded playoff. 24 teams wouldn’t surprise me. I think the Big Ten commish has expressed favoritism towards that while Sankey has expressed contentment with the status quo. If the SECCG loser gets left out though, that will change.

I believe if we win the SEC we will get a bye .
If we lose in the SEC Championship we will probably play a first round road game.

Would probably be a 20 team with 4 teams still getting a bye and 2 weeks of first round games played at home stadiums to narrow the field back to 8 before the bowl games start.

I didn't watch the rankings show last night, so I have no idea what the committee's justification was for putting ND ahead of us, but beating Auburn in JHS I think would move us ahead of them before the SECCG, which I think is a big deal. If we don't move ahead of them, then I think there is a scenario where we could get left out of the playoff if we lose the SECCG and Texas Tech loses to BYU in the Big 12 championship game.
I didn't see it but read a little bit about it. In a nutshell, they had ND ahead of us, because their two losses are better than our two losses. It doesn't matter that the rest of their schedule is garbage.
