I don't know how many on here have Charter or are aware of this, but the CBS affiliate in Birmingham (WIAT 42) is dangerously close to blacking out this Thursday at 4:00pm. It has to do with some sort of agreement between Charter and CBS. They have been running a crawler on CBS 42 for some time now, and at first, I didn't sweat it, as I though that certainly they would have something worked out by then. However it appears that no agreement has been reached as of this time and a blackout may be inevitable. Seeing as how the SEC Title Game is this Saturday, I am not taking any chances. I just went online and ordered a portable TV. It's just a little 7 inch, but it will have to do. Not to mention, CBS also has the AFC side of the NFL playoffs, the Superbowl, a good bit of the NCAA tournament, and of course, the Final Four. The local affiliate in Birmingham makes it sound like if a blackout were to occur, it could potentially drag on well into next year. And, on top of that, going somewhere and watching the game this Saturday may not even be an option, as many establishments also have Charter as their provider. Anyway, just thought I'd give a heads up for those of you with Charter. http://www.cbs42.com/content/announcement/default.aspx

If you are worried about the SECCG, you can still view it on your PC from CBS. I had to do that last weekend for the 1st quarter because our local CBS station shows the ACC game of the week which ALWAYS runs into the CBS SEC game.

You might not have to worry about that starting in 2014, with Maryland moving to the Big 10.

same here. it drives me insane that we are forced to watch crappy d3 football that has always run into our game. they should give them a 4.5 hour time slot.

Areas in Alabama, the cable companies have a monopoly over..... The area I am in you are forced to have Brighthouse cable, my Mother and Father is forced to use Charter services and that is our only choice unless you want to drop cable and go to Dish or other satelites. I don`t know about north Alabama, but I do know that Comcast is heavy in the state of Tenn., and that area is the only alternative in Comcasts area.... So merely wanting to change to Comcast is not an option if they do not service your area....
get comcast
