I know it is much to early to know the specifics but.............

Does anyone know how Prothro is doing at this time and his prognosis???

Is it a foregone conclusion that he will be redshirted next year???

I read a couple of weeks ago that he should be getting off the crutches in a month or so.

Considering the severity of the injury, I didn't know if it would be possible for him to be back next year.

I would appreciate any info that anyone can pass along.

I'm hoping regardless of his status, Bama redshirts him to give him ample to time to recover and come back in some resemblance of the player he was.
i agree about Pro taking the extra year to recover, i also wish that T. Castille would have done the same thing. He just did not look like the Tim of the past.

Disagree about TC. At any point had LeRon McClain gone down with an injury, we would haved been in trouble....you think things were bad after Closner, just think where we would have been without LM and no TC to back him up. Hind sight's 20/20 (LM didn't go down) but when you're thin, you can't take chances red shirting players (and I mean players) if they can "go".

My husband's cousin ran into TP while he was Christmas shopping, and Prothro told him that he did not think he would be back. He said the doctor's are telling him that it was PROBABLY a career-ending injury, that he will never have enough stability in the ankle for football. :frown:

Hopefully the docs are wrong, but that was really quite a severe fracture. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see him coming back. Very sad

my sister's ex-husband's cousin's uncle's sister-in-law's third cousin's ex-wife's third cousin's fifteenth cousin's uncle twice removed by divorce ran over a meter maid in walla walla washington and she said that her uncle's fifth cousin told him that james andrews appeared in his morning bowl of oatmeal and said they're not sure about anything yet.

this might be inaccurate, however, because he normally doesn't eat raisin oatmeal.

I can guarantee you that TP would not say that.

The reason I was asking how he is doing is I've heard things concerning his prognosis that were not very positive. At the same time, what I've heard are rumours. I won't repeat any unsubstanciated rumor in this forum. Besides, I read things on this board from the mods that indicate they frown on people repeating "rumours" and rightly so.

It was a sickening injury. I had to turn my head during the numberous replays that were shown on tv.

I just thought someone out there might know how he is doing and his prognosis.

I've got a friend who is a physicians assistant (PA) that was watching the game with me and the moment he saw the replay he started spitting out some medical jargon about what "type" of break it was and that it could possibly be a career ending injury. I really didn't pay much attention to him at that time because I was in the game so much, but it sounds like he was dead on with regards to the "type" of break Pro sustained.

From what my PA friend told me if Pro does come back (and it was the type of break it appeared to be) odds are he won't ever be back where he was before the injury, if he even comes back at all.

Before this goes any further in speculation...

As Earle pointed out, his career being over isn't the case.

However, the chances of his recovery aren't 100% either. It's better than 50/50.

I can understand why it's an important subject with us fans. But, we will not know anything substantial until spring, at the earliest. It may very well be fall practice before we know if he'll be able to contribute at all.

just give it some time. who knows what might happen. think of it this way, AC was lost on a less serious injury, but nearly 40 years ago when orthopaedics were in the stone ages compared to now, a young man named rocky bleir got blasted by a grenade that nearly took his foot off. many said he'd never play again. as i remember it, he played a little bit of football for a few years in the NFL and made a pretty good go of it.

give it some time and please avoid posting such gloom and doom, as some of the players have been known to frequent these boards.

EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWW :eek2: , those aren't raisins!!!!!!!!!

This just In! My wifes uncles, brothers mother, aunts neice who knows nothing about football ran into Pro at Hardees eating a biscuit and he said he was not coming back!

"he was not coming back!"

Why, didn't he like his burger?

Seriously, he laid it all on the line for the team. I hope he recovers and gets all he hopes for in life. Semper Fi PRO.

On Tider Insider, someone posted that he saw Pro "at a local eatery, that he was still on crutches, but he said his rehab was going well. He said he wouldn't be ready for spring, but is shooting to be ready for 2 a days. He seemed to have a great attitude."

Supposedly, with this type of injury age has much to do with it. Hence, the potential difference between Joe T. of the Redskins and Pro.

I think we should hope for the best and keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
