We need a punter it don't have to be Burnip good but you have to be able to flip the field. Deboer fan but he dropped the ball here NIL Portal unlimited scholarships you want to win a championship you have to have a 60 yard punter. We can't get 45. He also has no hang time someone is going to bring a punt back on us. We haven't been exspose yet because offense moves the ball so we'll but it's coming. Supposedly a battle for the starting spot during the fall well let the other guy kick a little. This is a national championship offense let's not waste it with bad special teams play.

Just bothers me best program in the country doesn't have a quality punter or kicker have to do better unlimited resources to find one. It's the little things that separate the wins in 25 we can't control everything every portal player or recruit but we can find a 60 yard punter I'm high on the staff and not here to complain but total failure on this.

Our punting wasn't as bad as the punting I saw from the team my daughter's school played.

Poor girl punted the ball backwards. It was....hysterical

Wait a minute... We need to simmer down a little. People have been complaining about Doud the last few weeks. I thought he did okay job. He averaged 41.8 yards last night. he's not getting a chance to punt ball often this year because of how good Offense is. he has punted 16 times this season!!!! So here's a context:
Also you have to look at where they were punting on the field. Gotta account for that. Doud can't always punt over 50 yards and etc.

Looking at SEC ranking for punting....

1. Texas at 32 punts with 44.19 average
Then you go all the way down to Tennessee which are at:
10. Tennessee with 22 punts averaging 44.41 per game.
Georgia is below them at 11 for 21 punts with 47.67 average.

Alabama is at 15 with 16 punts with 40.75 average.
Vandy is at 12 with 47.92 yards.

Alabama is averaging 2 punts per game. That's why the stats doesn't look ideal but it's actually a good thing.

The top NFL punter is averaging 52 yards per kick... Nobody is getting 60.

JK averaged about 46.

Doud is average, but he doesn't get many opportunities and they may have him kicking a bit short to prevent returns. We've covered him well and they've only returned maybe 2-3 of his 16 punts.

Plus, he seems to have good ball security and technique. Better to be a bit shorter than get a block or otherwise pooch it at a critical junction.

Kickers are just random... Never know what you are gonna get... As a reference: See many years under Saban!

Also certain parts of the field can turn a 50 yard punt into a 30 yard punt.

I agree dowd has little hang time and never flips the field. Punters don’t AVERAGE 60 yds …but most can hit them when really needed. Also, often the punter kicks just 35 cuz of field position and pinning the other team inside the 5. …this low res the average. Have we had a punt land inside the ten yd line this season? He is a real detriment in my opinion. That said….I'm thrilled with the team’s performance and this is obviously nit picking!

DeBoer and the staff seem willing to play the best guy, so I'd assume the other punters have lacked in some way.
