If you think that JH is a better threat to go through progressions and pass the ball to our talented corps of WR's than Tua, you might want to re-evaluate your eyesight. Not even close. Clearly Tua had much better coaching in that area prior to arriving in Tuscaloosa.
Tua is a better natural pocket passer. He still lacks experience in game, we don't truly know how his decision making is. In a sense we don't really know his weaknesses. Also, since we really haven't seen him except and mop up duty while Jalen blows out teams in the first quarter we really don't know his strengths fully either.
What I do believe is that we know enough about Jalen winning 25 games in 2 underclassmen seasons as the main piece for our offense, while managing a top offense and limiting turnovers. I also think, but don't know, that Jalen has the capabilities of improving as a passer on the Collegiate level. He's done it so far the season
Without quoting multiple people that replied to my post. I would fully support Tua if that's the decision that the staff went with. This thread may be long. But I don't think this is a long thought process for the coaching staff. Do I believe that coach Saban values limited turnovers? Don't you know that already as a fact? I also believe that we know coach Saban values experience.
Furthermore, something that coach Saban always states is a need for his quarterback is to have leadership that takes over and permeates the team. In other words, the team chooses who the leader is. Jalen has been our leader on offense for 2 years since fall camp '16. So just get on the bus and continue to enjoy the ride. Coach Saban will not change that because he feels like he has a quarterback with a better arm. If that were the case then that guy who started the season for us last year would be your quarterback. Intangibles matter and our starting quarterback for the past two years has them in spades, along with some serious serious physical attributes to go along with them.
I really don't have a problem with what any of you were saying. I like Tua as well. I just don't have time to continue to worry about something that I know it's not going to change, and we are probably best off for not changing it. Jalen is a really good quarterback and wasn't necessarily the issue last weekend.
I know that the backup quarterback is always the most popular guy on campus. I just wish we had a game this week so you guys can stop festering over one loss.
Coaches are always looking at what backups have in camp. But, they're not making a change
