1. Brodie
2. Barnes
3. toss up between Pennington & Gullion
5. Wilson

With Branes size and arm strength he can easily slip into the #2 spot on the depth chart. That is if he can pick up the offense quickly.

depht chart

I think I read on here that Pennington most likely will give up football spring practice to return to baseball....so he may not return for his senior season anyway.

1. Brodie
2. Pennington
3. Barnes/Wilson
4. Gullion

Were assuming Barns will sign, If Brody stays healthy I think Barns will redshirt, plus if I'm not mistaken Wilson will be on the field for spring training so he will get a head start on Barns. Guillon I'm just not sure about.

Pennington is improving with play, I think that will help him regain his second string spot assuming he can improve down field accuraccy. Otherwide Barns/Wilson may take over because you have to hit a few plays deep to win in the SEC

if spencer and mark both return

i think that both wilson and barnes should redshirt. what about thrash and milwee? do they both return given all the folks who seem to be ahead of them on the depth chart?

Here's my take

1. Brodie-It's his job to lose and barring injury, he's the man. He already knows the offense backwards and forwards in addition to incredible skills.

2. Guillon-He's already been through one Spring Drills and will be THE MAN in next years Spring drills. This Spring should be invaluable to his development.

3. JP Wilson-Should learn quite a bit and show flashes of brilliance but will quickly learn there's a BIG difference between Hoover and SEC calibre athletes. Going through Spring Drills will really help this kid.

4. Barnes-Big time size, mentally sharp and tough. Seems to come from a well coached background.

5. Pennington-He drops to #5 due to an incredibly bad choice of playing baseball this Spring and gets surpassed by the others as a result, thus never playing another down at Alabama. If there was ever a player that needed Spring Drills, it's Spencer.

Flame away if you want but that's the way I see it.

Don't underestimate JPW. If Guillon is still on the team, I think he and JPW and Barnes will be in a deadheat for #2-4.

Spencer might decide to just try baseball.

JPW will play baseball too.

Don't forget guys that Coach Shula told JPW that he could play both sports.
IMO, that will limit JPW right off the bat and let the others like Barnes, Thrash, and Milwee get a step up on him.

1. Croyle
2. Gullion
3. Barnes/Thrash/Milwee
4. JPW/Pennington

Of course, Coach Shula may move Milwee back to WR where he was before
our QB woes this year. Milwee would probably have more of a chance to
excel there than at the QB spot for us.

Thrash and Milwee are walk-ons. I don't think they'll be in any future depth chart considerations unless we have another string of injuries.

Not an incredibly bad choice, but rather an intelligent choice. Spencer is a first baseman, NOT a QB. Has that not been obvious over the past few weeks? When Brodie and Guillion return from injury and the other two arrive, Spencer will be 5th on the depth chart. His QB playing days will be over soon. He supposedly has major-league talent in baseball. I hope that he bats .400 with 30 dongs. But the kid just doesn't have what it takes to be a top SEC QB. I'm pulling for him because he's all they have for now, but I wouldn't blame him a bit for concentrating on baseball. If he has a pro futre, that's where it will be.

Spencer playing baseball this Spring IS a bad choice if he wants to play football again. I was talking about it from a football perspective, not from Spencer's personal persepctive. I've heard he has a lot of talent in baseball and if that's what he wants to do, I'm all for it. Just don't be surprised if he never plays another down as QB at Alabama.

Barnes #2? lol!

I guess that's like when people said S. Castille would be starting along with M. Carter, and the freshmen OL would be starting by year end. Oh well, we hype our own players to the nth degree.

Bottom line is they are freshmen. Too many expect them to come in and compete at a level the majority are unprepared for.

this may sound negative, but its not ment to be, I will NOT put faith in Brodie ever again, the style football he plays and his size makes him injury prone. To my knowledge Brodie has never completed a full season including high school, with out injury. As for Spencer, hes all we have left this year, but based on his performance this year, I would put just about anyone above him next year. Specer has 3 games to prove himself and start hitting his recievers, I for one do not feel he will ever be more than he has been the last 3 games.

I can not believe the attitude of some our fans on how Great our OL will be next year b/c of the RS fr,. and next years class....LOL I love the new recruits, but Britt,Smiley, and Mathis were the exception not the rule on rs fr. OL making an impact. Also,if we do sign 2 high class rb's they may not make an immeadiate impact either....I hope so though!

So what you're saying is that the guy throwin' it around for us this year would be our 5th option at QB next year?

And you people wonder at all why the offense is struggling?
