His comments about us not getting Gunner don't bother me as much as all the public bashing of Bama he does toward our other recruits. I know we have commits in uncommitted recruits' ears, but I would hope their comments are more complimentary of Bama rather than bashing of rival schools. Bama has enough to offer to stand on its own.
I'm sure there is some bashing (what do you expect from a 17-19 year old kid), but the fact that he does this constantly on Twitter is ridiculous. You'd think his high school coach, Chiz or someone else would tell him to cool it. He makes himself look like a punk (and that isn't the exact word I want to use, but I chose to be TF friendly).

The strange thing about this sort of public behavior is that we are shocked that a kid is saying these things. Kids will be kids. The alarming thing is that some grown up supposedly responsible adults in the media say the same sort of ignorant things. lol

In my opinion young Kiel went about his recruitment thoughtfully and respectful of all the schools he considered. He and his brother might have dreamed and talked of playing together for their entire lives. It would be especially sweet for both to be part of a Hoosier football resurgence, too. Good for him and I hope he has a terrific career.

Kind of indifferent on this one, though somewhat concerned too.

I was never totally sold on the notion of Kiel being a truly elite guy, and I still think he may be somewhat of a system product rising up against weak competition. Based on that, I'm not sure this is a major miss. And I think it may bode well for our chances with Winston.

On the other hand, regardless of where Winston ends up, I still believe he'll end up in MLB, and with Kiel out of the picture (presumably), I'm not sure an elite QB is coming in this class. Looks like we'll have to wait until 2013 unless Winston does what no one expects.

Good luck GK at Indiana. What a name for a qb!!! I wish it was going to be on the back of a Bama jersey!

His first name, Gunner, of course!

There was some talk that when DGB saw film of Kiel he said he'd be interested in playing with him. Does Indiana become a factor with him?

Good luck to him. If he is the real deal everyone thinks he is, he can still make it to the NFL. I do think he would have gotten a lot more experience for that level playing in the SEC.

Man that would be hard for me to believe. Playing with a top QB would always be nice but I can't see two of the top players at their position going to a school like Indiana. One, I can understand, but two?

i really dont care gunner going to his home school. i just dont understand it. i realize he wont be there until the 2012 season, and he can sit in the stands and watch his brother play this year, like he said, but, i really dont understand how being rated and evidently talented as a qb, why he would go to the same school, and probably take the qb job away from his brother in his junior year. not nice in my book. its not like two brothers arie and cyrus that can play tackle or guard at the same school. oh well, like i said we have two talent qbs now, and we will get more talented qbs.

As long as we're a run-oriented team, we're going to be hit or miss with elite quarterbacks.
If Greg McElroy can sign on with an NFL team, our last three QBs will all be in the NFL. How many other schools can say that? I am guessing that USC probably can, but I don't know how many others could.

Where does this leave us at QB then... we know Winston will never step foot on campus if he "commits" to us...
First best of luck to Gunner, not likely that he reads this board, but I for one understand the attraction of playing for ones home team.

I'd say it leaves us with AJ or Phillip who will still be on campus....as far as recruits IF winston commits to bama he will in turn be an effective recruiter for us on the trail and he may or may not go to the mlb. He has said the team he commits to will take two QB's and he's fine with that. A few others guys like Lambert are big on UA and may be on board shortly after Winston's announcement.

Ehh.. Pike will get a taste of his own next season. It will be quite interesting to watch in 2 years.

Gunner Gunner Gunner, All those great words about not announcing, I have to wonder what prompted you to lay claim.

funny thought- when him n bro get in a row over playtime, I just want to know how Sunday dinner will go down.

"He stoled my ball", "No I didn't, It was my ball first".. "Give it back" .. "Maaah, He hit me!" "Now Boys, play nice". (I'm KIDDING).

**********
Now Pokechop.. about the Winston recruiting, I said the same thing and someone else jumped my throat. "The recruiting class is already pretty much done".. or words to that effect. Wasn't worth arguing because it is what it is. Why he's got a shopping list chock full of big ol linemen (Chester! Chester!) to guard himself, and some solid receivers. Not to mention another Qb that would be competitive. Nothing like a good challenge to keep you on your toes, or to take over the ship when you need to sit back and take it all in.
