Question about playing surface for 1st scrimmage

With the turf being only a few weeks old, how will it stand up to a scrimmage? How long does it take for it to root itself. Just wandering.

The 3+" sod was put down in rolls (approximately 4' x 50') from sideline to sideline. Most of the actual field surface will have been down for several weeks before the first scrimage. Tifton 419 grows and roots quickly with water, sun, and fertilizer. The field has had an abundance of all. This same grass is used on golf courses and can cover divots with growth very quickly. There shouldn't be a problem.......but there shouldn't have been a problem with last year's surface either.

When it will happen is a good question, but I don't know the answer. I can tell you that if it does happen, it will be only weeks before the decision is made to go with the synthetic in the near future.
