Question regarding scrimmage today

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Which Washington RB is the one to watch? There's Dre Washington and Jesse Washington on the roster.
We should be in good shape with running backs. Richard Young did well in rotation. He averaged 5.4 yds per carry, I think he all the running backs will do better this year. And there's freshmen A K Dear and Kevin Riley.

I think Dre Washington

We had Bo, Herschel and Marcus Dupree all in a 3-4 year period and they were all freaks like DH.

Dupree was a FREAK and a lot of people have never heard of him.

It’s a shame he never lived up to his potential for various reasons.

His Fr year he only started for the back half of the season and finished with almost 1,200 yards and 12-13 TD and set a still standing record in the Fiesta Bowl with over 200 yards in just the 1st half (left the game with FOUR injured body parts)

If he had stayed healthy and motivated there’s no telling what he could have done in the NFL.

Edit:

Another great one in the same era was Eric Dickerson.

One of my favorite football memories of all time is the UTe game where we got the ball on about our 10 yard line or so with something over 8 minutes to go in the game. We started pounding with Henry. Sometimes up the gut, sometimes off tackle. But never wide, unless he just bounced it out.

Everybody in the stadium knew what was coming. But UTe couldn't stop it no matter how many they put in the box. 4 yards, 5 yards, 7 yards, 3 yards, 6 yards. Absolutely hammering with a 12-pound sledge.

Starting from our own 10 or so, we essentially told UTe, "Here comes Henry....see if you can stop it." They couldn't, and we ran the clock out, sitting at about the UTe 10 +/- when the clock hit 0:00.

Good times.

Follow up: Dang...I just checked and that was the 2015 season -- 10 years ago.
Wasn’t that LSU?

Didn't Henry score on Tenn late in 2015? I think I recall being at a camp with my son and not having signal and having to listen on the radio at the dining hall for the last few minutes.
I think he did. But it wasn't in the manner I originally described. Colbysullivan is right -- the Derrick Henry show occurred against LSU a few weeks later.

The talent at the skill position only needs someone to distribute the ball in an efficient, timely manner.

There is absolutely no team in college football capable of shutting down all these options every play. If they somehow manage to do that, Jam will get the thirty plus feet to get another set of downs.

I want to see adjustments made to the unconventional defenses that are going to be necessary to slow this offense down.
