Quick Question regarding the Clemson story.

I was reading about Clemson honoring the scholly for the LBer that suffered a stroke. I seem to vaguely remember a similar story from a few years back regarding a Bama recruit. Now I can't remember the the exact details, but it seems this like this kid had a debilitating injury or medical condition, and Alabama honored his scholarship offer. They had offered the kid before the condition revealed itself. Seems like Shula was the coach when this occurred.

Did this happen or am I imagining it? If it did could you please help me remember the details.

I remember Saban recruiting Robert Quinn from South Carolina that had a brain tumor. And Saban said that he would give him a scholarship even if he wasn't able to play football. He ended up recovering and playing for UNC.
