- There is nothing wrong with the way Gottfried is coaching, contrary to what the alarmist ‘Bama fans think.
- Kennedy Winston is a superstar, and has really only one area he needs to polish in his game…finishing strong.
- Ronald Steele finally played like a freshman last night…he made a few mental errors, played too fast at times, played too slow at others. I give Tack Minor all the credit, he’s an explosive offensive player and gave Steele all he wanted to handle and then some. Steele will be a better backcourt defender because of last night’s game though…
- Alabama showed me a lot last night…they could’ve rolled over (ala Florida) when they got down by 13 in the first half, but they hung around and showed signs of life the whole game. They played in a very tough environment and held their composure for the most part, they just couldn’t get a couple shots to fall in the 2nd half when they really needed them (I think of Shelton’s 3 with about a minute to go, Winston’s runner in the lane with less than a minute to go, etc.) They got beat on a great play by a reserve player who just happened to be in the right place in the right time.
- We have to find a way to get Shelton more clear looks at the basket in situations like that…Davis played well and so did Winston, but it’s obvious to win the big games, we need contributions from all three players.
- Felix scares the crap out of me with the way he just pulls the trigger but when he’s on, he can be a very good offensive player off the bench and we need that desperately!!
- Nobody should ever pass the ball to Evan Brock in the low post…ever…hands of stone.
- Contrary to what he might think, Jermareo Davidson is NOT the reincarnation of Lew Alcindor…he needs to play a little more within himself.
- This team will be fine…I’ve said it all year…all they need to do is go 2-1 in their last 3 games and they will win the West. This game Saturday is huge though, for seeding in the tournament as well as confidence…
