ESPNU 150 Watch List ball-carrier Storm Johnson of Loganville, Ga., has committed to the Tigers over Florida.

Michigan State, Oklahoma and Ohio State were his other finalists. Among many others were Penn State, Tennessee, Florida State, UCLA and Kentucky.

"I have committed to LSU," the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Johnson told The Times-Picayune. "It's just a great place for me. I like the surroundings. I like the coaching staff. I like everything about it. I'm lucky to be a Tiger. I love LSU."

"Me and my parents talked," he added. "We looked at the top five schools I liked. We looked at what those schools could do to benefit me. We looked at the (academics), the programs and even the city they were in. We decided that LSU was the best place for me."

Johnson rushed for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior while playing for Buford, Ga.

At the Atlanta Nike Combine, he posted an electronically-timed 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.26 20-yard shuttle, 32.9-inch vertical and 102.3 SPARQ.

I'm not sure if he was a serious target of ours or not, but I saw an article a while back about him and it mentioned us recruiting him.

I think we had some contact early on with Johnson, but we never really recruited him. We got Fowler and that was pretty much the end of it for us, and we weren't really looking to add another tailback.

One way or the other, though, make no mistake about it, Johnson is a talented kid and he should be a good player for LSU. It's a good pick-up for them. We didn't really recruit him, but it sure as hell wasn't because of a lack of talent. And besides, how can you not like a kid named Storm? Even Verne couldn't butcher that one...

I do wonder, though, what this means for their chances with Seastrunk. I'm sure they would take both, but if this kid is going to stick at tailback, it's not exactly a ringing endorsement of their standing with him. I still figure he ends up at LSU with Reed, but it does make you wonder a tad.

I don't think it means much as in the way of their pursuit of another RB. Storm is a big bruising back while Seadtrunk is more of a cut-back slasher.
two different styles that can compliment each other on the field of play.

I do think that Texas's chance of landing him just went up.
I am sure aubarn fans are believing more and more that LS will be coming to the plains now.:rolleye2:

5-11 and 210 lbs is a great build for a between-the-tackles runner, and an electronically-timed 4.54 40-yard dash is nothing to sneeze at. Sounds like a complete back, and an excellent pickup for LSU.

I read about this kid's facebook page on another site. I'm not sure how he has qualified or how he'll qualify.

Well it ain't like LSU hasn't got a herd of talent at RB already, this is just another one in the stable. Guess our LBs better tighten thier chinstraps those are going to be some good games.

Looks like the LSU has got word that the recruiting jugernaut on the plains is going to be scooping up Seastrunk. Poor kid.

I wouldn't dare consider Seastrunk an LSU lock, but if he goes elsewhere, it won't be because of this commit. Seastrunk and Storm Johnson are polar opposites with regards to style of RB. Storm Johnson is more like Micheal Ford...who signed with LSU this past February. Lache is the only speed/slash type back LSU would potentially sign.

I am impressed with Storm from what I can tell/see. Amazing that a 16 year old has arms like this kid. He's not a Trent Richardson look alike by any stretch, but I saw a pic of him running the ball last season, (when he had JUST turned 16), and he already had a college RB body. Guns for a 16 yr old. I think this is a good pick up for LSU.

So try this oddity on for size...

Johnson was supposed to commit to LSU yesterday on his official visit. It was his birthday, he was going to meet Miles, etc., even Dandy Don said it was supposed to be yesterday. Only one problem... Johnson still hasn't committed, and to the best of my knowledge he is back in Georgia.

This one is really odd. Maybe he's just waiting just to wait, or maybe there really is some fire behind all of this smoke and he doesn't have a commitable offer yet. I don't know, it just sounds really weird. He obviously loves him some LSU, and he's a fine player so I don't know why LSU wouldn't want him in return.

Maybe it's much ado about nothing, I don't know. I'm not trying to get at anything with this one, it's just striking everyone as extremely odd. Seastrunk was in Baton Rouge today, maybe that has something to do with it? Who really knows, though?
