Forgive me dieters.

INGREDIENTS:

pancake mix of your choice
cooking oil
oreo cookies
powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Place Oreos in freezer for at least 2 hours before starting. Make a batch of pancake batter while cooking oil heats to 375F. you will need enough oil to deep fry a cookie, about 3-4 inches in a heavy pot should do it.

Dip frozen Oreos in pancake batter and slip them into the hot oil. Deep fry no more than a couple of minutes and turn them once when they start getting brown. Remove from oil and place on paper to drain. When you have a batch finished hit both sides with powdered sugar.

Be sure to let the cookies cool for a couple of minutes after removing from the oil. The molten icing in the middle really burns the mouth.

Cover leftover batter and refrigerate for pancakes the next day.

I have been told that you cant actually fry ice cream..Wow imagine that....:cool2:
Emeril can.

INGREDIENTS:
1 quart vanilla ice cream
1 cup crushed frosted cornflakes
1 cup sweetened coconut flakes, or 1 cup chopped walnuts, or 1 cup cookie crumbs
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
Vegetable oil, for frying
Hot chocolate sauce, optional
Whipped cream, optional

DIRECTIONS:
With an ice cream scoop, form 4 large balls of ice cream. Place on a waxed paper lined sheet and cover with plastic wrap. Freeze for at least 2 hours.
In a bowl, combine the cornflake crumbs with either the coconut, walnuts or cookie crumbs (or any combination). Spread the mixture in a shallow dish.
Dip the ice cream balls in the crumb mixture and freeze for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar. Dip the coated ice cream balls into the eggs, then roll in the crumb mixture, coating completely. Freeze for 1 hour. (If necessary, or for a thicker crust, roll again in eggs and crumbs until the balls are completely coated.)
Heat the oil in a large pot or fryer to 400 degrees F. One at a time, lower the balls into the oil and fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove from the oil and place in a dessert bowl. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and whipped cream, as desired. Repeat with the remaining ice cream.

Best thread of the year! :p

Seriously, thanks, Bayou. My kids at church will love this stuff. We go festivaling every year at a place that has a deep fried booth specializing in Oreos, Twinkies, Ice Cream, Soda(!), Veggies, etc.

They even came up with this little ditty:

Two questions:

Does this make it harder to just lick the center?

And

Can you still dunk um in milk?

What will they think of next?

The cookie part turns soft, there is a small amount of crunchiness from the batter. The confectioners sugar definitely adds. Think of a funnel cake with a soft oreo center. To quote the great Justin Wilson, "Dat's some good yo."
