If we do happen to get Tebow is it safe to say that we will have the best recruiting classes ever?
lazarus said:Most of the people I talk to, both from AL and FL, have been saying for the last four weeks that they though the Tide would be tough to beat for Tebow. Given that anything can happen between now and Dec. 14 (when Tebow is supposed to announce a school on ESPN), I think Alabama's going to get his signature.
In fact, the last "hold out" that I usually share thoughts with (and who's been in the Tebow to UF camp from the beginning), stated today, for the very first time, that his FL contacts are now saying "Tebow's headed to the Tide".
I do think Smelley puts off his decision until Tebow makes his (which is only wise), and I do think it was smart not to alienate him, but I do think Tim Tebow's likely a Tider.
Something Stinks with Smelley: Long rumored to be an Alabama silent, Chris Smelley had 2 surprise visitors this week; Shula and an assistant coach. Reportedly Spurrier has picked up his efforts with Smelley, and one would assume that the thought of losing their 2 biggest QB targets led the coaches to arrange this visit despite being in the midst of an important rivalry game week with championship implications. This favors the Gators.
Tebow Recruiting for Bama: While I think this is a case of perception becoming reality, I will list it as an advantage to Bama. Tebow has been mentioned in numerous articles over the last 2 months as having asked players to consider or visit Bama. Individually these comments have not been entirely overwhelming, but when attached to the statement "Tebow is recruiting for Bama" they get taken very differently. Most of these articles were written by Bama sites. Interpretation is up to the reader, but I honestly feel he likes Bama, and he is just giving them the good word. In the case of the UF lean players, these are all players who want to take trips, and Tebow enjoyed his trips there. If he was forced into picking Bama, my feeling is he may use the added exposure to help recruit away from UF, but I believe his primary objective is to remain at UF with his friends.

Sometimes I actually feel invisible on this board. Where is my nose up in the air.![]()
I, too, also believe he has more interest in LSU, than UF.I also dont see how the Gator fans can be THAT confident in getting Tebow considering how he has pretty much given all of his attention to us. I mean, it seems he has given LSU more attention that Florida.

You are our surfer guy tho!! There is a difference heh. I was mainly talking about people that talk to insiders or maybe even team mates of recruits, and then form opinions (biased maybe?) from that.
I do enjoy you posting links to articles just as much as their opinions.

Jamar Hornsby came back from Athens where he saw the Auburn-Georgia game. He thoroughly enjoyed Athens but the recruiting process had worn him down. He had trouble sleeping Sunday night, a combination of anxiety over making the final decision and the pain from a knee he injured Friday night.
"It was between Florida and Georgia," he said. "I was sitting here debating all night. In the beginning it was kid of fun, but then it got old. I hurt my knee pretty bad so I just wanted to get it out of the way. I just want to see how the Gator fans react to it."
If money is involved, how is this legal?I think their is definately some coaching from ESPN, but the question is: what do the kids get in return? A chance to be on TV? Is their money involved?
