RECRUITING: Commitment/Prospect List, Comments, and Discussion (Part VII)

Re: Goggans

I think he will eventually switch. He just needs to do it relatively quickly or he might get left out.

Re: Alexander

UGA is almost full in there class. Barn has 3 WRs already committed. Bama needs physical receivers. It's taking him a while to realize he's not going to play QB in college. He treated his recruitment as a QB for almost the duration. He's not a D1 QB. But, in these situations, I tend to think ties go to the home team....and that's Bama....he grew up a Bama fan.

Re: Smelley/Tebow

I think Smelley will wait out Tebow to see. If he doesn't, Bama may go to a backup plan in Greg McElroy (Tex Tech commit) or Matthew Malouf. But, my money says it's Tebow or Smelley.

Re: Stover

Stover is the stud WR of this class, regardless of who else we get.

Re: Toryan Smith

He's still torn between Bama, ND, and UF. Last I heard, ND seemed to have a slight lead.

Re: Jenije/Johnson

I think all 3 are corners. Johnson has the potential to go to safety, but will get first shot at corner. All of them have great speed and hips.

Re: Ross

It depends on what Smith does and what the staff decides with Caldwell and Cardwell. Right now, I'm guessing guard. But, he's been told both.

If we follow the precedent of....

past years, we will probably sign 28 or 29 to allow for non=qualifiers. I don't know about any recruits grades, but this seems like the norm. If so that means about 13 or 14 more will be signed.

Do any of you guys see commitments coming out of this weekend if the Tide wins? I would just hate to beat them at their house, and then get a recruit that they want too (Ricks...)

;)

Ricks could decide soon after the game as long as the Barn doesn't pull even for his services. Despite the heavy influence from family, he is still leaning to T-town.

Alexander is the only other one we are vying for with the Barn. Most in-state kids really aren't favoring the Barn much, if at all.....besides the lifers- Caudle and Eddins. Zachery is the only one that we had half a chance at, but I think he fell a little on our radar.

Word has it, Running Back Mon Williams has set a official to Alabama. I havnet really heard anything about him up until this point.. He looks really impressive in his videos..

Micah Johnson, why isn't Bama...

given this boy a look? He is one hell of a D player. Just wondering with any of you with a little inside? He is up for Mr. Kentucky and also plays fullback. RTR

we have, but he's listed UGA, Louisville, UK, and Va Tech as his targets. He's not all that interested in Bama.. :frown:

he's a Ray Lewis clone..

Uk...

is high on the list. I spend alot of time on KYprep site and they are always talking about this kid. I cant figure why UK, beside the one boy he played with is there. UK football? RTR

As others have already said I would guess that Jermarcus Ricks Ricks may be the prospect that is most likely to commit after this game. He is down to either Auburn and Bama as his top two favorites. He has said recently that Bama is his favorite even though he is getting family pressure to go to Auburn.

Impact Weekend
Jermarcus Ricks, Colbert County-Leighton, Ala.

Scout.com's four-star lineman plans to stay in-state to play college ball. Alabama is his leader going into this weekend. The Tigers will try to persuade Ricks to take an official visit before making a decision and follow his brother linebacker Courtney Harden to the Plains.

Roshaad Byrd Update
Scout.com's three-star linebacker was in Tuscaloosa for the LSU game and will travel to Auburn this weekend for the Iron Bowl. Byrd has named a team favorite.

"I loved my visit to Alabama this past weekend," said Roshaad Byrd from Meridian, Miss. "I loved the fan support of the team. There was a lot of emotion coming from all the fans."

After seeing the way the line played today, I'll consider this recruiting class a failure if we don't land Andre Smith...

On top of that, we need some wideouts with proven hands.

next year's o-line could be
T-andre smith
G-b.j. stabler
C-Antoine Caldwell
G-david ross
T-tatum/Alex Stadler
rumor is that andre smith is a silent commit.

That's simply not going to happen. Andre (if he commits) will probably have the best shot to start with the probability being that Caldwell moves to center and opens up a guard spot. Otherwise it will be the same O-line as this year. These guys will improve. I'm as frustrated as anyone right now, but you get better by playing, and these guys will be much better next season.
