I am surprised at this also.

If the staff wants him, then he's good enough for me. They've been on the money in their talent evaluations thus far. I know there was some talk about him playing some LB, but I believe he gets his first look at QB. He did have some impressive offers. I believe he had a UF offer as well according to Rivals.

One thing's for sure. We should be able to find somebody out of the three guys coming in who can throw the ball.

He was quoted as saying that he's not afraid of competition (from JP or Barnes) and that he's looking forward to it. Obviously he's going to get a shot at QB to start with.

Doubtful. He'd be listed 4th or 5th string likely and EA rarely goes more than three deep on QB rosters. You'd have to hope for EA to expand the rosters again. They'd likely nerf him even if he did appear.

Johns' Position

If he only benches 245 (which I highly doubt) he won't be at Tight End, at least not in the SEC. That spot is reserved for really big boys in the South. I think he will get a serious shot at QB considering the woes at that spot in recent years. I think he will be less likely to get any real playing time if he sticks firm to his desire to play QB (more likely to be redshirted) and slim up than if he goes to the other side of the ball.

This kid is a terrific QB prospect. The Dante Culpepper comparison is well deserved. Watch his videos and I think you'll forget about him being switched to another position. He's big, strong, athletic with a strong arm and a nice touch on the ball. I think he's the real deal and if JPW and Jimmy Barnes beat him out, we're gonna have a stud QB.

Recruititng thoughts

I am very happy with what Shula and co. have done. I would love for Bama to sign one more rb but overall I am pleased.I think that Glen Coffe is a sleeper to me it seems he is the most ready for the next level strength and size not to mention 4.4 speed. Thanks coach Shula and Staff look foward to next year.

I've seen both Jimmy Johns and Derrick Pegues play against Clinton HS this season. Johns did more damage, IMHO.

If he couldn't find a receiver...no problem. He had great field vision and judgement, and he could scramble out of any tough situation. His rushing yards were about as good as his passing.

He reminded me more of Michael Vick. He's scary good. We reeled in a HUGE recruit today.

If Shula took Jimmy Johns and has Rogers silently committed that means he'll have three left. It is going to be a shame if we don't get Worthington, Upchurch, Davis, Simpson, Greenwood, Forbes, Rouse or someone else because we took Johns. I hope he convinces the guys that committed early that aren't highly regarded to greyshirt. I am prepared for your overly optimistic responses, proceed........

Not a problem if he is left off the roster. CREAT-A-PLAYER will take care of that!

I am surprised we got him away from MSU. I really thought he would be drawn in at the prospect of being the automatic QB at MSU. But, this staff is something else. For those that wanted a mobile QB, you got one. Let's see what he can do vs JPW and JB.

4.7s in the 40 doesn't look super speedy. But he must play faster..

He was offered as an Athlete. He'll have his shot at QB but if that doesn't work out he'll be headed for the LB corps.

He was told he could compete as a QB...that's where he will get a very long look. If that does not work out he will get looks at every skill position. This staff is not afraid to move a player to get the best on the field.

He is one heck of a QB talent though!
